The sharp cold and frozen ditches and skaters in the background always make me a bit nostalgic.
So high time for a nice Stew.
And what better to do this with Good Friends Good Food Good times
Follow the instructions:
Cut the mushrooms, carrots, onions and celery into pieces.
Heat up the Dutch Oven in the Big Green Egg or above the fire and add a few shoots of olive oil.
Add the sliced vegetables and the bacon and let it roast for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Roll the pieces of meat through the flour and add them.
Add 2 bottles of beer, add the tomato wedges, the 5 spices herbs and the bay leaf and mix well.
Let it come to a boil and simmer gently.
Put the chunk of smoke wood in the fire and then wait.
With the cutting east wind exactly on our back, we did just wait inside at the wood stove.
Stir occasionally and simmer for 3-4 hours. After an hour the lid can be put on it, you may have added enough smoke flavor.
Furthermore, it will be fine.
