Animal migration studies

Animal migration studies look into the movements of respective species on a seasonal basis as they seek for food, breeding habitat, or better environmental conditions. These migrations are of vital significance in the studies of ecosystems since migration affects the survival of the species, the number of the species, and that together with the principle of comity in the ecosystem has balance. The birds, whales, butterflies, and fish are tracked by the researchers through the use of tracking devices and satellites as well as the analysis of their genes. Migration may be induced by temperature shifts, temporal distribution of food resources, or seasons of breeding activity. These studies are useful in understanding the impact of climate change, habitat destruction, or anthropogenic factors on animal communities. It is within this understanding that appropriate strategies for the preservation of endangered species and the whole ecological set-up can be developed.
