Get the Right Gear: Buy yourself some binoculars (8x42 is recommended) and an appropriate field guide for an area where you intend to watch birds. You could also try using apps like Merlin Bird ID.
Choose the Right Location: You should try visiting nearby reserves, parks or wetland areas. Some habitat areas and more often near water where birds could be found.
Be Patient and Quiet: It would be wise to go early in the morning or late in the afternoon as these are the times when birds are generally active. It is also advised to avoid sudden movements or loud speaking in order not to scare the birds.
Learn Bird Songs: Be sure to learn a few calls of birds because this will make it easier to find certain birds that you cannot see.
Keep a Journal: You would also want to write down all the details of the birds you saw. The place and date you spotted it and what the bird was doing. Doing this will not only improve your skills but will also make good memories as records of your birdwatching experiences.
