Conservation biology is one of the scientific fields which deals with understanding the biological diversity of the planet Earth and the measures which could be taken for its protection. It tries to avert extinction of wildlife species, depletion of ecosystems and genetic pool. The branch came in response to the growing concern about biodiversity loss driven by human pressure such as land-use change, global warming, and contamination. These interventions seek to evaluate the composition of ecosystems, the size of species populations, and threats to the environment and create policies for appropriate conservation and rehabilitation of the environment. Main strategies include the protection of life habitats, creation of wildlife conservation corridors, translocation of endangered species, supported by legislations regarding protected areas and other conservation management measures. Beyond the mere conservation of wildlife, this field of study promotes human development while at the same time reintegrates ecology, genetics, and social science with a view of leaving a habitable planet for future generations.
