Hello dear friends,

This afternoon while reviewing the news about what is happening in the world, a sound like rain took me off the internet. For a moment, the Coronavirus took a backseat as we watched the flames advance on the hillside adjacent to our residential complex.

Hola queridos amigos,

My family has lived in a 10th floor for over 25 years, with a privileged view of the beautiful valley that houses the city of Los Teques. In all that time there have been three fires, but I have only photographed the one of today.

From the panoramic window we saw the fire advance from the foot of the slope to the edges of the buildings, destroying all the low vegetation in its path, miraculously we saw the perimeter fences impeded theirs to hug everything.

Before the disastrous spectacle, my wife was very hurt to see many birds leave their nests behind and who knows how many chicks will have perished. In a jiffy his placid world changed dramatically.

Very often we are visited by small hummingbirds that perch and chirp in the mornings in the flower pots of the window. Now it will probably be a while before they return to give joy.

And what about the myriad insects, how many will have survived. Quite a sudden burnt offering.

This made me reflect on both the fragility and the miracle of life, and how we humans strive to complicate our existence. In that sense, sometimes we are like fire.

We see before our eyes a succession of events such as the fires in California, Australia and the Amazon that caught our attention for a certain period until another event arrives that changes our focus.

The current crucial event is the pandemic and its effect on international markets. Likewise, we in the Blockchain fight our fire to maintain the values of the community.

In the end, nature although it takes a bit of time always recovers and I hope we do too.
