Had lunch at a middle eastern restaurant today after church. They serve Pakistani food such as roti, naan, briyani rice, kebabs and lots of other tandoor cooked items.
Today I ordered myself some naan and roti for lunch. I also ordered some briyani but my son couldn't eat it as it was too spicy so I finished that as well.
My naan I ordered was a cheese naan and for the roti I ordered their in-house specialty bread called a 'Roti Kabul' which is basically paratha that's cooked in a tandoor instead of on the flat top. I really like the bread here as their dough is really tasty and well made.
The cheese naan is stuffed with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella and then cooked in the tandoor. The roti kabul is also cooked in a tandoor and everything was nice and charred which made it very fragrant and aromatic and also texture wise crispy on the edges yet fluffy and soft in the inside.
I also took some 'aloo palak' which is spinach and potatoes cooked with spices. Another side dish I took to go with my naan and roti was 'keema' which is minced beef and peas cooked with spices. This pairs really well with the naan making it like a middle eastern sloppy joe.
After all the Chinese New Year food, it was a good meal eating some other cuisine like this.
