How do you box your shadow or in shadow? 🤣 Jeff see him there. Where?

  • in front
  • Beside you
  • Behind you
  • He's above you .....Punch 💥💥💥💥💥💥

That's how your shadow moves. 🤣 When I hear the word shadow boxing, it reminds me of shadow fight. It's actually a computer game I used to enjoy playing then but it has a different meaning from the exercise I want to perform. It's shadow boxing and arm circles.

Shadow boxing as the name implies doesn't just mean you box your shadow but it figuratively means you'll be fighting without an opponent. You'll be fighting with thin air as there's nobody in front of you. In essence, it's more like punching your shadow which can't feel pain or even know you exist. Let me illustrate with this example.

Let's just say you're preparing to fight in a ring. That's those that play fighting games, you'll practice yourself first to strengthen your arms, build your endurance and coordination so that when you stretch out to your opponent, the punch won't be an odeshi punch but would be one that would knock your opponent to the ground.

You're punching the air with so much fury as if there's an opponent there and your ability to stretch your hands forward in a propelling way that shows force and then retrieve it back to cover your face shows coordination and resilience.

In this program, we aren't practising to fight. The programs aim at helping us improve our arms and hand physique. You stretch out with force and you bring it back in a constrictive way. In the process, you may hear your bones crack or glide.

crak, cruka, Krip kpop....

This kpop is the deep audible sound you may hear of and outsider would think you've broken it practically, not knowing it's a less serious sound. That's for the arm. It gets strengthened when propelled forward with force and the arms feel the feedback when it returns to rest. Arm circles too teach much about endurance. I can remember this Barbie movie I watched where she held 5 books on both palms and stretched out her hands to meet her shoulder.

She took on that position for 6 minutes without dropping her hands down. The endurance level was on the high side. Can't even stretch out singlehandedly, it's holding books to stretch sideways and make yourself appear like a cross. This is the program we did. It has a lot of benefits explained after doing it.

Task 1

For this task, I'm to do repetitions of these programs. It's just like telling someone to sit in the air for 2 minutes and then sit in the air again for another two minutes. You're repeating what you've already done. Sometimes you'll wish it just came to an end after the first round. Endurance will really help you repeat the programs with hope in view. That's how I got help through the repetition of these programs. Let me take you through.

Shadow boxing: I did this program by standing straight as entailed in the guideline and also protruding my hands as if I want to punch a physical opponent. You know if you want to punch a physical opponent, you must be alert. 100% focus and coordination is needed to doge attacks. I placed my hands in a way that when I throw out, I can easily take it in to myself. I started with front punching then moved to side and up and down punch.

Forward, sides and upwards40 punches on each sidesRest for 10 secondsRepeat the number on each sides without editing the video

For arm circles, this was quite tough but I had to endure maximally , the pains that come from keeping your arms laterally and then moving it around that region. I stood in an upright position and made sure my hands were straight enough as if I were crossing it like a plus. I aligned it with my shoulders and then made moves anticlockwise and clockwise for 40 times and then rested for 10 seconds and took it again to the next level.

Clockwise and anticlockwise40 circles eachrest for 10 secondsrepeat same without editing the video

I mistakenly deleted my arm circles video and had to make another one this morning. I was in pain though not completely because this program is targeted to making us do 100 Repetitions in total so I've done 80 😁

At the end of the program, what is the overall feelings and where did you feel the pains the most?

Overall feeling was satisfaction gotten from knowing I have strengthened my arms from numbness. I also felt pain during the arm circles exercise. It was really draining as to the repetition but it was for the best. I learnt the quality of endurance using these programs. To install my arms for more than one minute doing locomotion wasn't that easy as you may think. Doing the programs slowly didn't make me go extremely tired and weary.

I also felt a improvement in my mental health and I did a lot of focus during the program and coordination. Staying focus while counting the repetitions is a mind game of multitasking. I was trying to hit my opponent but wasn't just focused on that, I used my mind to count his steps and learn his weaknesses. That's the improvement I got doing this program.

I felt so light after the program even though I felt particular pain in my arm area because of the arm circles program. From the picture, you'll see that I experienced so much pain in that area that I had to fold my hands in to comfort the pain area. These are my feelings in general. Depression wasn't a stumbling block as I left it at home to do these programs.

Do you think shadow boxing and arm circle are good for you and will you recommend it for others?

There's this engagement challenge that focused on frozen shoulders which i once participated. The bodily disorder is stiffness and arm circles and shadow boxing seems to be the perfect exercises for patient suffering from this disorder. Most people fall into this line starting from numbness of the arms. They can't stretch their arms or hold it that long because their shoulder isn't giving birth or the endurance isn't there. They feel pain around their shoulder and arm regions.

This is good for me because I most times find it difficult to stretch my hand talk more of keeping it for too long but with these exercises which I'll practice during the week, I can hold on this long and also improve my arms, shoulder and lower limbs which would prevent complications in future.

To the readers and non-readers, I recommend these programs for arms numbness. Most of us face it as we barely lift our arms up and down to do work. It may not really affect us now but will later as we advance in age. So doing this program now will help you strengthen your arm muscles, your hands, your shoulders and improve your mental health as regards to coordination. Thank you dear readers.
