Some people are very good at doing "something."
What I mean by that is that they decide to undertake some task — could be "Write a book" or maybe "Paint the house" — and then they launch into and work from the start till they are finished.
Then they move onto the next thing.
That Has Never Been Me!
Much as I admire those who seem able to apply themselves so single-mindedly to achieving their objectives, I fear I must confess that I have never been one of them.
Whereas I am actually pretty good at the "identifying and outlining a task" thing ("I need to paint the house") I have typically been worthless at just clearing the decks and focusing completely on that one task... and getting it done.
I always seem to have dozens of "projects" going, side by side, all the time.
As a result, any one thing I undertake always seems to take me an extremely long time to finish. On the other hand, I do get a lot of stuff done.
Working With Our Strengths and Weaknesses
I find myself writing these words because it's a new calendar quarter, and I just finished sorting all the piles of paper on my desk.
And then... I found myself wishing that I could just stay a little more focused so I could actually complete some of these chores, rather than just feeling like I am going to be "working on them" for the next five years!
Well, maybe it's not that bad...
But it does feel like I am reading about 30 books, all at the same time... a few pages here, then a few pages there. Hardly very efficient... but in the very long term I do end up reading a lot of books!
That Sense of Overwhelm...
Although I have largely made peace with my own scatteredness, the thing I most often end up fighting is my tendency to get overwhelmed by the awareness of just how MUCH I need to get done.
I look at it all, and it is so much that I sometimes just grind to a halt. And then I get nothing at all done.
Life is a constant learning experience, and even though I have now rounded 60 years of age, I still find myself trying to adjust the formula for how I live and manage my life towards a better optimum... maybe I'll actually get it right, before I check out of here!
Thanks for reading, and I hope you have an amazing weekend!

It is simply our life that keeps us busy and like you I have many plans to start and not always finishing in time. Although I must say some of them I just have to finish, like my 3000 pieces jigsaw puzzle after3 or so years I spent about 2 weeks adn finished it.
My husband is different he plans and then day by day he goes along till finishes, which is amazing. I tried not to read many books at once, usually take one by one. For me then it is more satisfying. I wish you get your planner for next quarter well planned :)

Even though I occasionally feel a little overwhelmed, on the whole I am pretty happy with my "scattered" approach to planning and life in general.
It doesn't always work well for things like blogging, where I might end up writing three posts a day for two days and then nothing for four days! But on the whole I get by pretty well.
3000-piece puzzle? Wow... that's a big one!
