Hello steemian friends wherever you are, meet again with me @iqbal-pasee, one of the atomians member in Indonesia.
On this occasion I will discuss about ten myths and facts about breast cancer.
The first myth is a lump in the breast means you have breast cancer, this is not true, eight out of ten lumps found in the breast are benign or noncancerous tumors. However, if the lump is permanent, see a doctor immediately to determine whether the lump is dangerous.
The second myth that men are free from breast cancer, in fact men can get breast cancer even though the percentage is much smaller than women, even breast cancer from men is much more dangerous because the tissue around the male breasts is thinner than that of women. So that cancer spreads faster, for that men should also do BSE on a regular basis.
The third myth of breast cancer is passed down from family, women with a family history of breast cancer do have a much greater risk of developing the same disease, but this is not always the case.
The fourth myth is that mammograms can cause breast cancer to spread, in fact X-rays and the pressure of a momogram machine on the breast don't cause cancer to spread.
The fifth myth that chemotherapy causes hair loss, hair loss is a side effect of chemotherapy that usually occurs three weeks after chemotherapy starts. However, this depends on the type of chemotherapy, the dose used and the amount of drug.
The sixth myth that deodorants containing parabens can cause breast cancer, parabens are chemicals used in various cosmetic products, although research shows the presence of parabens in breast cancer patients, this does not prove that parabens cause breast cancer.
The seventh myth of breast tumor patients when breastfeeding will increase the risk of breast tumors to their children, research proves that cancer cells cannot be carried through mother's milk or breast milk.
The eighth myth that small breasted women are not at risk for breast cancer, in fact small breast size does not reduce your risk of breast cancer.
The ninth myth that breast examination will prevent breast cancer, breast examination aims to detect breast cancer early and cannot prevent breast cancer.
This tenth myth of cancer mainly affects women between the ages of 30 to 50 years, research says 77 cases of breast cancer appear at the age of over 50 years.
"Remember prevention is much better than cure"
So much information from me about the epidemiology or the pattern of the spread of breast cancer and the anatomy of the breast organs, hopefully it will be useful and look forward to the next tips in my post.
Thank you for dropping by at my writing. Until we meet again in my next writing.
