A Good Yarn, or a Bad Yarn: what narrative do we tell ourselves? Day 840: 5 Minute Freewrite

You're too kind!!!
I'm about halfway through it now, and I've reached a point where I hate the thing.
"Omniscient Point of View is the kiss of death," modern editors say. And it's "just sloppy" to go head hopping from one character's POV to another in the same chapter. I know. I know. But I wrote this long ago, starting in 1990, having read too much pulp fiction in my foolish youth, having internalized too many "bad habits." Even J.K Rowling writes stuff like "His eyes followed her out of the room." Self-editing is so much harder than catching other people's rule-breaking prose. Thank you for the encouragement - it came when I need it most!!

Sort Order:

You are a much better writer than JK Rowling, whose work is grossly overrated in my opinion.
You do you.
(I am going to email you a post I am working on now when it's done, just to distract you, a post that might just be a kiss of death on steem for me, a downvoter's dream post. But I am still mad at you-know-who for you-know-what and I want it acknowledged.)

Still no email... I'm on pins and needles!
JK Rowling spins a great yarn - plotting and action/adventure are her strong points, my greatest weakness. Her prose is nothing special, but I love Harry and all his friends and even his enemies. Draco! Snape!
Thank you for the high praise--undeserved, but happily embraced!
Your wit and humor shine in your prose - and I hope you can appreciate Gina DeMarco's, no matter who she skewers. I honestly love The Neanderthal's Aunt, but I have found that the books I love most are never loved by those who read them at my recommendation. If I were a publisher I'd go bankrupt, showcasing authors that nobody loves as much as I do.
That said, I'm glad I'm not the only one at Steemit who loves your stories, @owasco! Sometimes my judgment is #Vindicated!

Found it! BRAVO!!!
The true rewards of writing for @freewritehouse lie in human support. Humans read the entries, many humans. Humans encourage the authors, humans upvote and comment on the low earning posts, knowing their 100% upvote will do little more than give a warm and fuzzy feeling to the author.
And all the rest of it too.
