The Walt Disney business may lose a significant amount of money from the previous two Avengers films due to a lawsuit brought by Rearden, a visual effects business. Rearden claims that Marvel animated key characters in the blockbusters using its proprietary technique. The Hollywood Reporter, however, states that a federal court rejected a portion of Marvel's lawsuit.
What is the case?
Rearden asserts that the company DD3, with which Disney worked on a number of successful visual effects projects, including Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Beauty and the Beast (2017), and the most recent two Avengers films, Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), did not possess the technology used in these productions.
The Incredible Hulk, portrayed by Mark Ruffalo in the Avengers films, and other well-known Marvel characters are said to have been animated using this technique, which goes by the name MOVA Contour Reality Capture. However, a portion of the case against Marvel was dropped on Friday because there was insufficient evidence in this area.
