FIRST SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AS A NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORP MEMBER
Hello Steemians! Hope you had a beautiful day as I did...?
"Corper, Corper, Corper", the students screamed and raised dusts. It was our first time as corp members going for sensitization. And out targeted audience was the students aged 12-14 years. So, on this fateful morning, I woke up with thoughts of this movement resonating within me. I just couldn't contain the excitement and anxiety.
I'm currently serving my country, Nigeria, at Nkanu West, Enugu State. In National Youth Service Corps, we are to serve the country for a period of one year and it has four cardinal points to follow before a successful pass out and issuance of Discharge Certificate. This four cardinal points includes; The Orientation Camp, Place of Primary Assignment, Community Development Service and Passing out Parade.
My Orientation Camping was at a particular local government in Enugu State, Agwu, after the three weeks programme, I was posted to my Place of Primary Assignment, which is a Community Secondary School, while there, I joined one of the Community Development Services Group, - Charity Group, because I love to help and I love kids too.
On the fateful day for our sensitization outing, I woke up excited. Said a quick prayer, freshened up and hit the road heading to our meeting point, so we could move as a group to the venue. We got there, since it was my Place of Primary Assignment, the students rushed to welcome me as usual to the surprise of my fellow corp members. Yea, I'm loved by the kids and I live them too. Just as shown in the picture, they almost made me loose balance.THE SENSITIZATION PROPER
Different speakers were nominated to speak on the different sub-heads on Puberty, and of course, I was one of the speakers. It was a very interesting one and the students listened with keen interest as most of them were just hearing about Puberty for the first time, they asked lots of questions and we took turns in giving them the answers they asked for and at the day of the day, we asked our questions and those who got the answers right were given sanitary pads and the boys were given sweets. Yea, we didn't have enough financial support. But I'm glad it was successful.
It was a great day. After the sensitization, we took photos with few management staff present at the school. They really appreciated us and commended our efforts massively.
We hope to do better next time as we plan to visit the orphanage. We really wish our government can look into our allowance and make increments so we can do better for humanity.
Thank you for reading!

You are doing a series of student-oriented humanitarian actions with a very good program. I would like to know a bit about the puberty material that you socialize, is it about hormonal or emotional changes?
I also hope you continue to be passionate about this service, good luck to you!

Thank you so much for your contribution, sir.. It was a combination of both changes. Our audience was the students aged 11-13, likely new to puberty, so we threw more light on what they should expect.
I'll continue to be passionate about this service. Thanks so much, sir
