I have been doing the new monthly account report for the whole 2019. Here we will compile all these stats and represent a yearly overview of the account creation.
Who created the most accounts will also be presented and additional info on the accounts activity and balance?
Accounts creations in 2019 per month
Below is a chart of the number of accounts created daily in 2019 per month.
A total of 166,173 Steem accounts were created in 2019
We can notice the drop in the number of accounts created per month, starting from 25k in January 2019 to 8.4k in December 2019.
Who created the accounts?
The number of accounts created doesn’t tell the whole story. Probably more important is who is creating the new accounts. Steem has been creating the majority of the accounts in the past. Is there a change in the trend? More accounts coming from other steem dApps means than other dApps are also bringing new users to the blockchain.
Below is a chart for the account creators.
Steem created the most accounts with 74% share. The others category is second with 11.3%, then on the third place is Steemmonsters, and next comes Oracle-D, Steemhunt, Blocktrades and Partiko.
Here is the monthly structure over the year.
This chart is interesting to look at!
Steem started the year with absolute domination in account creation with 87% of accounts created by the @steem account. Over the months in 2019, the number of accounts created by Steem dropped month after month and at the end of the year, in December 2019, the share of accounts created by Steem is 58%!
Interesting in November 2019 the share of accounts created by Steem was bellow 50%, or 47% to be exact. In this month the majority of the accounts was created by others, not Steem.
Conclusion
The negative thing is that the number of accounts created in 2019 is going down. But the very positive thing is that the other players are stepping up and creating more account. Steem has been reducing it share in account created and at the end of the year is around the half mark. More account creators, means that the blockchain is better diversified and used by more dApps than the single one Steemit. Steemmonsters are on the third place now. Maybe in 2020 they will get the top spot in the number of account created!
All the best
@dalz
There has been no promotion of Steem. We are doing nothing to attract interest or new users, so we are not getting interest or new users. I bet at least half of the new accounts were for Tribes, and other internal issues.

Tribes are not creating new accounts as much .... the number of new accounts by tribes is counted in dozens, or hundred for the better ones. In total Far from the thousands that we need.
But at least we are setting up some healthy foundations this year, unlike the hype before. At least that is my feeling.

Yeah, wouldn't it be a cool idea to have a budget to create new accounts and support them.
I do this by my own time and my little RC - to budget would be to keep the new build accounts, as many disappear to fast.

It is good to see the account creation spreading out. Not put in this post but there are a lot of individuals claiming accounts. This is helping to spread that out and decentralize the process a great deal.
Ultimately, account creation is going to be done by the applications. When individual apps start reaching their target audience through their marketing, we will see the numbers rise.
Right now, the most advanced one in overall impact is Splinterlands. Thus, that could be the winner in 2020.
