I'm @shawlin , from #Bangladesh

Hello, my fellow Steemit users!!

What is the national festival of your country? How did it start

As a Bengali, we have lots of national festivals. Nationwide celebrations include Eid-Ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Muharram, and Miladunnabi (the Prophet's birthday), Christmas for Christians, Durga Puja for Hindus, Buddha Purnima for Buddhists, Bangla New Year's Day (Pahela Baishakh), Shahid Dibas (the Day of Language Martyrs), Independence Day (March 26), and Victory Day (December 16).
Pohela Boishakh is a significant and eagerly awaited holiday among the Bengali population. It is the first day of the Bengali solar calendar's first month, Baishakh, and the beginning of the Bengali New Year, or Nobo Borso. The Bengali calendar begins with Pohela Boishakh. Springtime is coming, life is reviving, and culture is continuing. All Bengalis celebrate this occasion, irrespective of their age, gender, sexual orientation, caste, or place of worship. There are several different accounts of the history of Pohela Boishakh. All of them, nevertheless, stem from one specific Mughal emperor—Akbar the Great—and the system of tax collection that existed under his rule.

How is this festival celebrated? Are there any special rules for celebrating it?

Many people visit temples or offer prayers at home, to seek blessings for the coming year. Cultural ProgramsIn both Bangladesh and West Bengal, Pohela Boishakh is celebrated with cultural programs, including folk dances, music, and performances. The artists from Chhayanaut performed a famous song under the banyan tree at the capital's Ramna Park. This organization has been organizing cultural programs annually to celebrate Pahela Baishakh at Ramna Batamul since 1967.
Organized by the students of the Fine Arts Faculty of Dhaka University, with the cooperation of former students and teachers, a procession is organized every year on Pahela Baisakh in the Shahbagh-Ramana area of Dhaka city. In addition to teachers and students of the Fine Arts Institute, people of different levels and ages participate in the procession. A variety of symbolic artifacts are carried in the procession Which carries the heritage and culture of our Bengalis.

Are there any special outfits or foods for celebrating your national festival?

Bengalis celebrate the new year by dressing in a new dress. Men usually wear Panjabi, pajama, or dhoti, and women commonly wear sarees or salwar kameez. Bengali attire is known for its elaborate patterns and colorfulness, and Pohela Boishakh is no exception. Popular meals during the Pohela Boishakh celebration include different kinds of bhorta, green chilies, and onion, along with a traditional platter of leftover rice soaked in water and topped with fried Hilsha fish.

Tell us about your favorite memory from celebrating your national festival.

When I was young, he used to take me and my brother to fairs during Pahela Boishakh. There were lots of toys and food available in the fair, which attracted me.I still remember that I used to go to the fair with my brother and ride the Nagar Dola many times. After growing up, I went to fairs with my friends, but I never felt that much joy I used to get from going to fairs holding my father's hand.

I invite @sualeha, @mona01, and @rashidaakter to participate in this contest.

Thanks for being with me and reading my post patiently .

Best Regards
@shawlin

I understand that the most significant of all the national festival available in your country is the Pohela Boishakh. Which happens on the first day on the Bengali calendar. This festival holds some importance significance in the lives of every Bangladeshi. And it is necessary that during this celebration all families and individuals visit temples to pray and practice the usual religious rituals. After that people would make merriment and become happy. I wish luck

Welcome @shawlin! It is fascinating to learn about the rich tapestry of national festivals celebrated throughout Bengali society, with Pohela Boishak standing out as a vibrant celebration of the Bengali New Year. The way I have described the historical roots of the festival, which stems from the era of Emperor Akbar and its association with the tax collection system, provides a fascinating backdrop to the celebrations. Your personal memories of attending fairs during the Pohela Boishakh period as a child, and especially the joy of being with your father, add a poignant touch to your narrative. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful glimpse into Bengali culture. Good luck!
