What is up with the downvote bots on Steemit?

in hive-172186 •  4 years ago

I have been on this platform for less than one month, with 12 posts and 6 downvotes from bots. I googled each one of the user names to the only find that the same names are on many similar types of platforms, with a blockchain list of their constant downvoting activities to everyone. I do not take this personally, but I am curious as to why this goes on and why someone would do that? Is this an attempt at harassment? Is this an attempt to destroy blockchain ethics?

@steemcurator01, @steemcurator03 are there any posts on this subject matter to help new members because, in my research, I found that I am not the only one.

@xirro - Thank you for downvoting my first two posts in the New Members community and my first post in World of Pixar during my first week on Steemit.

@dormik Thank you for downvoting my first post in World of Photography.

@prodof Thank you for downvoting a post that I put up 2 days ago.

@vladtsaval Thank you for downvoting the same post @prodof downvoted - two downvotes on something that just got upvoted by a real human being.

Ignore the activity of these bots. I don't know the reason for their existence.
When you walk down the street, sometimes dirt gets under your feet, you just take a wider step and continue walking. After all, that dirt cannot spoil your mood.
Just keep making your beautiful posts. You are good at this :)

Again, thanks for your support! I am having way too much fun to let something like that stop me.

This whole platform is so new to me and I am just trying to figure out all the nuances of it. I was a bit surprised to see downvotes after so much real-life positive support and reading that downvotes were rare. And really surprised to see the same name on different platforms doing the same thing to other people- kind of shady. But, as it is said, "it is what it is."

It's just rubbish :)

Everyone gets the occasional red flag that has no meaning, but it is negative for new users and I hope that @steemcurator01 again takes this up with the technical team

Thank you for the reply. In my research, I came across posts from new users that were pretty upset and confused, even after they found out it was a bot.

This is pretty common. Some haters just have army of tiny accounts with bots flagging for whatever reason. But finally they have very few SP to take them into account at all...

Luckily the times when whales could flag you just because they do not agree with something have passed... (well they are all in another chain now, still flagging)

Thank you for the honest reply. I found out the interesting backstory, to which you refer, and had to ask the question.

I was wondering the same, but has long we reach our work to the community I really don't feel bothered by it

@drephillip Agreed! And congrats on the 14 Days - I look forward to seeing your beautiful world.

Thank you and congratulations to you too! I look forward to see more of your work!
