China's Maritime Silk Road; (China's Road to Becoming Economic Power)

We all know that seaports are the major hubs for international trades since cargo flights are quite expensive and cannot do many luggage like the ship. It is no doubt that the seaport is one place where the government make money, where Goods leave and arrive at a country after which it goes into the warehouses and stores after which it gets to the citizens. Governments never takes ports with levity as it can employ over 200,000 people, which means if a country has 4 ports, it is directly or indirectly creating jobs for over 800,000 people, also since revenue is generated there for clearing and tariffs, the port makes an integral part of the country.

Shipping is one thing the government are fully concerned about, but it never hits the media. The shipping industry connect the producer, the distributor, the government and other international government, and the people. A lot of countries have ports locally and in other countries. Countries like Singapore own and operate ports locally and in other countries up to 15 countries, Denmark also own a few ports in several countries, countries like Dubai own ports as well in different countries. It is no crime to own seaports in countries, but it looks like China owning seaports is one thing the world are now looking into.

Dubai’s DP has 77 ports in 40 countries does not look like a thing of concern but China’s move to own ports in different countries have raised eyebrows. A lot of countries see China’s move as an avenue to dominate world trade and become world power. In 2013, China mentioned the mission of creating an economic belt in the new silk road project just like the ancient silk road. China said it will be spending within the range of $4 – $6 Trillion. Although China has been improving on the routes that get goods to and out of china including rail, they have not neglected the Maritime Silk road. In achieving this goal, China has been proposing a win-win deal with a lot of countries. A few ones include Pakistan’s Gwadar port, Sri Lanka Port (where it leases for 99 lease), Djibouti, and many more. China is getting virtually all these countries to give out their port by giving out loans that they are unable to pay back due to corruption in these countries.

Conclusion

The US have been against the People’s Republic of China since its vote in the UN and now it looks like China is gathering strong allies as well as influence which will help in its economical goal. If China can achieve its Maritime silk road, its rail route as well as other targets in other countries, there is a possibility that holding the world power is possible.

The silk road in my opinion will never see the light of day because its promoters only seek greater global control but not better trade.

China is a strong nation and every move from them definitely raises an eyebrow, it is a country that is focused on growth I really like that they have leaders who are concerned about the country.
