According to health practitioners, it is recommended to always get at least 7 - 8 hours of sleep daily in other to achieve good health. Sleeping late or not sleeping at the right period of time could also be termed an unhealthy lifestyle as such act tends to play a major significant on our health. I've seen people having health problems whereby the reason behind these people sickness or poor health condition is actually due to lack of sleep and this is the reason behind some doctors telling their patients to always adopt good sleeping habit due to the health benefit derived from sleeping.

On the other hand, there are times whereby we become so busy such that we don't have enough time to accomplish our tasks. A good example is someone who works in an organisation and he's already piled up with lot of assignments from the office or his place of work and he's expected to meet a specific deadline within two days. The same also applies to students who are highly stocked up with assignments from their tutors in school and these same students are also expected to submit their bulky assignments the next morning.

There's actually no doubt that it will be slight difficult for some people to accomplish such task during the day due to their busy schedule, these set of people tend to make use of their available time in the night to accomplish such voluminous tasks by sacrificing their sleeping hours in the night. The fact is that I sometimes adopt this type of strategy most of the time depending on the complexity of my goal for that particular day.

Things That Keeps Me Awake During The Night

Even though sleeping is one of the gift of nature to mankind and there's also actually no doubt that most of us may find it very irritating when someone wake us up unexpectedly while enjoying our blissful sleep. There are actually some things that keeps me awake during the night due to their high level of importance. These factors are listed and explained below;

#1 PRAYER
If there's definitely any important reason that may keep me awake then it should be prayer. I love communicating directly with my Lord during the last part of the night and I always ask for anything I want in my life since the last part of the night is definitely one of the best period prayer tend to be answered very fast by God.

Praying during that time is just like shooting an arrow directly to it targeted point without any obstruction or obstacle. This is something i have tried before and it keeps working for me. I actually do this most times whenever I notice things aren't going well for me or probably whenever I intend to make any strong decision in my life that will be of great benefit or impact for me.

#2 MEETING CONTEST/TASKS DEADLINE
One of my shortcoming is that I love procrastinating a lot even though I do end up getting the work done before the deadline. There are actually some contest on Hive such as Hive Learner daily contests which tends to end every 48 hours. I always try as much as possible to submit my entries before the deadline even if it requires staying up at night.

There are also some tasks or projects i do get from clients which must be delivered to them before the prescribed deadline. I try as much as possible to get the work done by putting in my best no matter how voluminous the project may seem to be and I don't mind sacrificing my sleep in the night just to meet the deadline for submission.

#3 LEARNING
Another important reason that keeps me awake during the night is Learning. I'm this kind of person who loves learning a lot. I could remember during my undergraduate days when I used to cover all my departmental courses syllabus before the commencement of exams. Most of my reading period used to fall mostly in the night back then due to my busy schedule during the day.

Also due to my country's economy, Power supply has been a major challenge in my country and this has also been affecting the citizens in one way or the other. As a digital marketer, it is recommended to acquire and learn some specific digital skills to boost your customer demand. Due to my pursuit of digital skills, there are times whereby I will have to wait until there's light to power up my PC and start learning the required skills and sometimes i will have to learn these skills overnight by seizing the opportunity of the available power supply.

#4 OVER EXCITEMENT
Have you been in a situation whereby you have a celebration or event the next day and the whole planning, cooking and other paparazzi is taking place in your house... I guess you should know that sense of happiness or feelings that comes to your mind that night.. This is really one of the things that keeps me awake during the night because I always think about "the next day" coming very fast.. I just really can't wait to experience the celebration due to how excited I am.

This same effect can also be observed during the last night of December (December 31st), the joy that comes with moving into the next day (January 1st) will always be a memorable one. The fireworks, celebration, partying during the 31st of December is really worth keeping me awake most of the time.

#5 MOVIES
The last but not the least activity that keeps me awake in the night is movies. I love watching movie a lot most especially Indian movies, Korean Drama, Chinese Movies, and Nollywood movies.

I could remember watching The Alchemy of Souls Korean drama complete episode without sleeping for two consecutive nights due to my love for movies.

My Strategy When It Comes to Staying Awake in the Night

There are times whereby I won't be chanced to accomplish my goals during the day such that I'll have to move such activities to the night since doing that may actually be the time that works best for me. I'm able to stay awake in the night by making use of the below practices;

#1 SLEEP WELL DURING THE DAY
One of my favourite trick that keep me awake in the night is by sleeping during the day. I notice anytime i sleep well during the day I don't end up sleeping early in the night and this makes it more easier for me accomplishing my goals.

#2 DRINKING FEARLESS ENERGY DRINK
Fearless energy drink contains caffeine which is a bit similar to the ingredient used in production of some coffee product. I actually don't advice the consumption of high caffeine product excessively as it may hinder you from sleeping depending on your body system. I do take fearless at least once in a week most especially whenever I feel like staying awake in the night and this really works well for me.

#3 AVOID EATING HEAVY MEALS IN THE NIGHT
The last but not the least trick I use to keep myself up during the night is by doing away with heavy foods like Eba, Amala and others. I prefer taking something light in the evening for fast digestion unlike eating heavy meals which makes you weak and tired in the night and from there you start to feel dizzy until you fall asleep.

Im not so sure if this is a good sign if your goals (or anything else for that matter) are keeping you awake in the night.

As you've mentioned - having 7-8 hours sleep is very much recommended. I wonder if you even do afternoon power-naps? I found it so refreshing to be able to sleep for 20-40minutes. Even short nap can boost my productivity. After all, working for 2-3hours straight feels often like my brain is dying. And work efficiency is rapidly dropping after that time. Short nap helps to recover and allows to continue with work (while still being efficient).

I'm aware that you're sleeping sometimes during the day (this way you seem to be replacing your proper sleep in night time). But that is long and deep sleep, right? Not a short nap.

Lol... It actually varies sometimes. There are times i would sleep less than 1hr during the day and there are also times i would sleep more than 1hr. It really depends on my mood during the day even though I don't like sleeping during the day most of the time.

If you ever have a chance, then buy yourself magnesium in form of spray. And spray your belly with that magnesium before bedtime. You should witness game-changing difference in quality of sleep.

I sleep early but I can't sleep quickly, so I keep lying like this. but after lying on bed for one hour, I can sleep and I am achieving my 7 hor sleep target because 8 hour is impossible for me. It's hep me to recover my body and I am feeling energetic and this is very important for goals.

I love the fact you really understand your body system. It's actually a good thing sleeping healthily as it definitely helps you to become more energetic after allowing the body system to rest for some specific period of time.
