This time the proposal is based on the following sentence:
"Technology made large populations possible; now large populations make technology indispensable." José Krutch.
The existing digital divide in the world is increasing every day. Now, after a year of pandemic and whose prospects for 2021 are not very encouraging, the hopes of reducing this divide and achieving global digital cooperation are far from being fulfilled.
However, achieving global digital intercommunication continues to be a topic of discussion for nations, governments, governmental entities, groups, among others; but the reality continues to be that digital inclusion is not equitable, more than 50% of the population lacks connection and does not have access to technology, these figures have worsened and represent one of the harshest realities as of 2020.
Without a doubt, technology has achieved the transformation of societies, providing many benefits with its advances and the use of technological tools and equipment that are perfected every day providing society with many facilities and solutions to situations that could not be solved in the past.

But the existence of the global technological gap, has managed to put the issue on the table to discuss and seek global solutions to minimize the problem we face as a society to the United Nations.
In 2019, the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, commissioned a High Level Digital Panel to produce a report on the proposals for collaboration between governments, organisations, politicians, public and private entities that can contribute to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Although this report did not achieve a unanimous vote of approval on the agreed points, it was issued and can be considered a very important step in this area, in order to achieve the goals proposed in it.
In this sense, the UN Secretary General stated:
"...And this report will be a fantastic instrument that will not be applied immediately within the framework of laws or regulations, but will initiate a very serious debate at a global level in which everyone will participate, we can all transform the digital era into an era for the common good".

Finally, we can conclude that the importance of technology for society is recognised and evidenced over the years, but the existing digital divide in the world and the lack of equity in the use of and access to it, is transformed into a controversy that the human being has the obligation to seek solutions in order to achieve the dreamed-of technological interdependence.

Hello @janettyanez
I was not aware of these facts, but it is impressive that with so much technology there is such a big gap. I believe that technology is necessary, but in the end it ends up disuniting people to a great extent, perhaps even dehumanizing them.
Thank you very much for participating in the contest.

Hi @josevas217
Thank you for this interesting initiative.
Regards.

Hello friend, excellent participation, definitely the technology every day has more impact on us and the whole world, I think every day we are more dependent on it. Certainly it has made our lives easier, but there are devices that are simply unnecessary but we still waste money and time on them, so I think we have become robost. Greetings friend!

Hi @franyeligonzalez
It looks like a friend, but the important thing is that we all work to make it better.
Regards.

Personally, I believe that the use of technology is not a problem of our time. In the past those who had access to steel were superior to those who did not; those who had access to the mass creation of ships were superior to those who did not have these technologies. The sad reality is that history repeats itself, those who have access to technologies have a better life while those who do not have access to these technologies are oppressed and exploited by those who do have access to technology

Hello @trabajosdelsiglo
Access to technology is definitely one of the problems we face as a society and that for various reasons and interests has not been solved.
Thank you for your comment.
Regards.
