Hello friends, I hope you are doing well today? The weather over here is extremely hot and I wish I had some powers to make it cool a little bit, I hardly sweat but I have been sweating seriously for some time now. The holiday is over and it is time to get back to work, setting clearer goals and working hard at achieving them the more.

You know I love to give you certain update about my business and today will not be an exemption to that, I travelled to celebrate the festive season with my family and gladly I had a sales representative with whom I could leave the affairs of the business and I ensured proper communication with him while I was away, and since I had everything calculated before leaving, it was easy for me to monitor everything going on in my absence.

Last week, I received a call that this sales representative of mine was hit by a motorcycle which was not a good call, I tried to make calls in order to ensure he was in a safe hand receiving treatment and that was one good step that I took to ensure his safety and I am happy his family members came to take him and he is receiving treatment, I gave him the leverage to stay at home until he gets better. There is something I don’t really understand and I don’t know if there is a general law that covers a topic like this when it occurs.

I once employed a lady whom I trusted so much and was doing pretty well in the area of customer service and one day while at work, she slumped and fainted I quickly rushed her to the hospital and spent her salary of three months as the hospital bill without her family members contributing a penny to this treatment, the incident happened few days to the time she was supposed to get her salary and this did not stop me from paying her salary with the hope that she would work with me for a longer time, but this lady acted differently by quitting her job two weeks later without a prior notice and I also realized that certain items were missing after she left.

This experience made me fold my hands when this new staff had an accident and I watched his family take full responsibility of the hospital expenses, I really don’t know if I am supposed to take full responsibility for his treatment so I will like to hear from you as you guide me through on the next line of action to take through the comment section. Thank you for reading my publication, stay blessed and beautiful friends I am @oluwatobiloba.

This can be a tricky question because I think it can deppend heavily on what the law says. I'm no expert in that subject so I can't really help here.

Common sense would point out that if he was hurt doing work related activities you are probably accountable for that. But, again, I'm no expert and I believe you should seek professional advice just to be on the safe side.

Good luck and a speedy and full recover to your employee!

Thank you for responding, he got hurt while going to get his launch.

Hello @oluwatobiloba, What you are telling us is a really delicate subject, I would speak to you in terms of my experience in labor matters in Venezuela.
For example, the incident of the boy with the motorcycle did not occur within the premises of your business and neither did it occur while he was working for you but outside of your facilities (at least I thought I understood), therefore you are not responsible for the expenses Doctors, however you have acted in good faith by wanting to collaborate, that says something very good about you.

I hope everything goes very well, and I like to know how you are running your business, it is encouraging.

See you..!
