Do What You Have Love (Passion) For, And Love The Things You Do

I was having a discussion with a friend some days back and almost the entirety of the discussion was him complaining about his job - the same job he hustled a few months back to get. It was obvious that he did not like what he is doing, and this is not his first time of complaining about his job; he also did that in his former job. This could explain why he did not maintain jobs - always hopping from job to job. It is true that you need to desire for something better, but it does not mean that you should dislike what you are doing currently. It is the passion and the love for the present, that will pave the way for the future. However, the need to do what you love is without question. There is a kind of dedication, zeal, and sense of mission that is attached to doing what you love. This is why you need to have a balance between doing what you love and loving what you do.

One of the ultimate goals in life is to do what you sincerely love. When you pursue a career, do a work, and engage in the business that you love, there is a passion that always accompanies it. I have come to discover that when you do what you have love for, even the challenges you will meet there will be seen as stepping-stone and opportunity to grow, while the work itself will become fun. Take the professional footballers for example, a lot of them have passion for it because they love what they are doing. This is why they pour their soul into what they are doing. In fact, many of them will even feel sad if they are excluded from the starting-11 squad because they love what they are doing.

If you want to find a deeper meaning in life that gives you a sense of mission, then you need to follow after your passion and do what you love. I have seen professional career people (Doctors, Barristers, Engineers, etc) choose other careers like musical art, entrepreneurship, comedy, etc, simply because of passion. They had to follow their dream and do what they love and what gives them joy. It may not even be what they had studied in school and it may not even be paying as much as what they studied, but when passion and love is involved, a lot of things will naturally fall into place. When you do what you love, you will naturally find ease in doing it - just like a fish will find ease swimming in water because it is its natural habitat.

A lot of people that we have seen make waves today and in the recent past, are people who went after their passion and then developed it and it became big. I remember when the late Steve Jobs (who was the co-founder of Apple inc) was asked about technology and what drove him to founding Apple, he simply responded that he has passion for technology and innovation. No wonder he devoted his time, energy, and resources towards pursuing after the technology that has made so much impact in the world of mobile telephony and the computational world. Doing what you love will create the passion to get it done excellently well.

However, there are times that you may not find yourself in what you had always loved to do because of the unpredictability of life, so this is where you need to love what you do. Remember this phrase "if what you prefer is not available, then what is available becomes preferred." There are times that you may not have the opportunity to do what you love. What you have to do at that point is to find a balance; that is, love what you do, while you are trying to find the thing that you love to do. You will be surprised that the more you love what you do, the more you may even develop passion for it, and you will realise that you will actually begin to see it differently.

It is worthy to note that one very vital way to live a fulfilled and happy life is to welcome and embrace your work with happiness, while striving towards the fulfillment of your dreams. Trust me, even the work you have now can be instrumental to the success and actualization of your dreams. No matter what you are doing now, as long as it is right, good, and legal, you need to approach it with enthusiasm, passion, and love, so as to succeed at it and to also pave way for you to find what you want. If you do not celebrate what you have, you may not find what you want.
