As parents we must talk to children in relation to this issue, since forming responsible people is not achieved overnight, so we must guide them from an early age until they can make their own decisions, to choose well and accept the consequences of their actions to solve the situations that arise, thus achieving the goals, meet the objectives, be more independent, improve their self-esteem and be happier.
Encouraging responsibility in children, is a task that is not easy, it takes time so you have to be patient, you have to teach them with love what to do and how to do it, start from childhood and be an example in the day to day, what you want is to guide them to make the best decisions and not just obey.

In this post, I want to focus specifically on the school environment, since one of the purposes is to finish the year successfully, so there must be the commitment, the motivation to fulfill it. At this point, it is important to set goals, identify what you want to achieve, thus establishing the duties that must be fulfilled.
One way to start is to create routines that allow greater organization, and depending on their age, some tasks can be assigned to encourage responsibility, here are some tasks to start or continue encouraging responsibility at home and improve their studies:
Prepare his backpack with notebooks and necessary materials:
Every night the child can review his class schedule to organize the notebooks according to the corresponding subjects, and thus leave everything ready and prepared for the next morning which avoids any oversight or prepare it in a hurry at the time of leaving, this activity can be done at the beginning in the company of their parents or supervised at the end.

Organize their uniform and get dressed this task is very easy but sometimes may require some help from mom or dad depending on the age of the child.
Tidy and clean the study place, which increases performance, motivation, creativity among other benefits.
Take care of their study materials both at home and at school.
Plan to do homework when it is due and not wait until the last minute.

It is not easy for children to understand what it means and the importance of being responsible, so we must work on it to educate them in values.
