Practical knowledge

Practical knowledge is the know how that comes as a result of actual engagement with particular procedures or activities. However, while theoretical knowledge results from an understanding of concepts provided in the classroom, practical knowledge comes as a result of doing. Such knowledge is particularly important for trades and health care, technology exercises where practical skills are of more significance. For example, a mechanic does not just read how to repair cars; he/she reads and combines that understanding with practice. Practical knowledge encourages and fortifies self-efficacy since individuals do not only know about things but rather, they can do the things and are good at doing them. It enables the individuals to handle difficult scenarios and perform successfully in their occupations. This shift toward a more practice-oriented education and training system ensures a more efficient and versatile workforce.
