Altri 120 medici in Calabria 🇮🇹🇬🇧

Consueto aggiornamento periodico sugli sviluppi relativi agli arrivi dei medici cubani in Calabria, a seguito degli accordi fra la giunta regionale calabrese (centro-destra) e gli organi statali cubani preposti a questi progetti.

Oltre ai primi 51 di cui gia' vi avevo dato notizia, sono arrivati nella bella terra calabrese altri 120 operatori della salute cubani.
Questi 120 sono stati subito iscritti all'Unical, l'universita' della Calabria per un corso intensivo di lingua italiana indispensabile per poter comunicare con pazienti e colleghi.
Frequenteranno lezioni di formazione finalizzate al consolidamento delle competenze linguistiche italiane organizzate dal centro linguistico dell'ateneo con un corso intensivo di 64 ore inclusi i giorni di sabato e domenica.

Le lezioni si terranno presso la scuola superiore di scienze che in pochi giorni ha organizzato la logistica e garantito la presenza del personale nonostante il periodo di chiusura estiva.
Ai medici sara' garantita anche la colazione ed il pranzo oltre che la cena, i medici cubani saranno sistemati negli alloggi del campus in modo da garantire loro una accoglienza completa che terminera' dopo Ferragosto.

Il rettore ha dichiarato:”Siamo convinti che l'ospitalita' offerta dall'universita' ai medici cubani sia un segno tangibile del nostro impegno nel promuovere la solidarieta' e la cooperazione
internazionale nella speranza che questa esperienza possa dare i frutti sperati, in attesa che si realizzi un'auspicata normalizzazione della situazione sanitaria calabrese.”
Quindi questi medici appena giunti in Calabria frequenteranno il corso e solo successivamente saranno assegnati agli ospedali della regione per dare il loro contributo.

Il governatore Occhiuto parlando dell'arrivo di questi altri 120 medici da Cuba ha dichiarato;” I camici bianchi del primo contingente hanno dimostrato di avere una grande esperienza
largamente apprezzata tanto dai loro colleghi medici italiani quanto dai pazienti. Non ruberanno alcun posto di lavoro ai medici italiani ma ci aiuteranno a tenere aperti reparti ed ospedali.

Inizieranno a lavorare gia' dal mese di agosto.”
Ha proseguito il Presidente accogliendo i nuovi arrivati;” Un caloroso benvenuto a tutti voi, e grazie davvero per essere qui'.
Sono certo che anche voi come i vostri colleghi, che stanno dando un grande contributo, vi integrerete benissimo e che anche questa sara' una esperienza di successo. All'inizio fui criticato per questa
mia iniziativa, per aver portato in Calabria dei medici cubani, oggi tutti vorrebbero ripeterla in altre regioni. I medici arrivati oggi sono specializzati in emergenza, urgenza, ortopedia, cardiologia,
ed in quelle specializzazioni difficili da trovare in tutte le regioni.
Ringrazio il Ministero degli Esteri che ci ha aiutato in queste settimane a superare qualche problema burocratico, ringrazio
l'Universita' della Calabria ed il rettore Nicola Leone che ha riaperto l'ateneo ad agosto per far svolgere a questi medici il corso intensivo di italiano.”

Ricordo, perche' questo umile scriba ha buona memoria, quando i soliti Zichichi scrivevano che i medici cubani al di fuori dal loro paese non potevano neanche fare gli infermieri perche' non avevano la preparazione necessaria.
Ricordo quando Cuba ci venne ad aiutare durante la pandemia che ci fu chi scrisse che a Crema i medici cubani si limitavano a portare il cibo ai pazienti in quanto non erano in grado di fare altro.
Il tempo, come sempre mette ogni cosa
al suo posto.

Usual periodic update on developments relating to the arrival of Cuban doctors in Calabria, following the agreements between the Calabrian regional council (centre-right) and the Cuban state bodies in charge of these projects.

In addition to the first 51 that I have already given you news of, another 120 Cuban health workers have arrived in the beautiful Calabrian land.
These 120 were immediately enrolled at Unical, the university of Calabria for an intensive course in the Italian language which is essential for being able to communicate with patients and colleagues.
They will attend training lessons aimed at consolidating their Italian language skills organized by the university's language center with an intensive 64-hour course including Saturdays and Sundays.

The lessons will be held at the high school of sciences which in a few days organized the logistics and guaranteed the presence of the staff despite the summer closure period.
The doctors will also be guaranteed breakfast and lunch as well as dinner, the Cuban doctors will be accommodated in campus accommodation in order to guarantee them a complete welcome which will end after August 15th.

The rector declared: "We are convinced that the hospitality offered by the university to Cuban doctors is a tangible sign of our commitment to promoting solidarity and cooperation
international in the hope that this experience will bear the desired fruits, waiting for the desired normalization of the Calabrian health situation to take place."
So these doctors who have just arrived in Calabria will attend the course and only then will they be assigned to hospitals in the region to give their contribution.

Governor Occhiuto speaking of the arrival of these other 120 doctors from Cuba declared;” The white coats of the first contingent have shown that they have great experience
widely appreciated both by their Italian medical colleagues and by patients. They won't steal any jobs from Italian doctors but they will help us keep wards and hospitals open.

They will start working as early as August.”
The President continued, welcoming the new arrivals;” A warm welcome to all of you, and thank you very much for being here.'
I am sure that you too, like your colleagues, who are making a great contribution, will integrate very well and that this too will be a successful experience. At first I was criticized for this
my initiative, for having brought Cuban doctors to Calabria, today everyone would like to repeat it in other regions. The doctors who arrived today are specialized in emergency, urgency, orthopedics, cardiology,
and in those specializations that are difficult to find in all regions.
I thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which has helped us in recent weeks to overcome some bureaucratic problems, thank you
the University of Calabria and the rector Nicola Leone who reopened the university in August to let these doctors carry out the intensive Italian course.”

I remember, because this humble scribe has a good memory, when the usual Zichichi wrote that Cuban doctors outside their country couldn't even be nurses because they didn't have the necessary training.
I remember when Cuba came to help us during the pandemic that there were those who wrote that in Crema Cuban doctors limited themselves to bringing food to patients as they were unable to do anything else.
Time, as always puts everything
in its place.
