Approfitto della mostruosa vittoria di Sinner nella notte australiana contro Nole per parlare di tennis.
Per chi come il sottoscritto, in un altra vita, vide la finale di Davis vinta a Santiago del Cile dai 4 moschettieri, Panatta, Bertolucci, Barazzutti, Zugarelli rivedere l'Italia vincere l'insalatiera e' stato un bel momento.

Amo il tennis, ci ho giocato tanto anche se da qualche anno non prendo piu' la racchetta in mano (non si puo' fare tutto nella vita).
Ho seguito sempre questo sport, dopo i 4 moschettieri abbiamo avuto qualche buon giocatore; Ocleppo, Gaudenzi, Cane', Cancellotti ma nessuno che potesse davvero giocarsela coi grandi.
Mentre le ragazze si godevano una splendida generazione con Pennetta, Schiavone, Errani e Vinci i maschietti arrancavano.
Fognini oggi numero 103 al mondo ma che e' stato nei primi 10, e' stato il primo vero segnale di rinascita, carattere di merda e potenzialita' non sfruttate a pieno ma perlomeno un giocatore
vero.

Poi e' arrivata questa generazione pazzesca.
In cima alle mie preferenza c'e' Sonego, ovviamente per motivi calcistici visto che e' uno sfegatato fratello Granata.
Non e' un fenomeno, oggi e' il numero 46 al mondo ma e' uno che sul campo da' il 110%, abbiamo vinto la Davis anche grazie a lui.
Arnaldi n.41 lo conosco poco.
Musetti n.28 e' un talento assoluto, forse pero' gli manca qualcosa per fare il definitivo salto di qualita'.

Discorso a parte merita Berrettini oggi 26 enne numero 124, ma che e' stato a 23 anni numero 9 al mondo.
E' incappato in una serie devastante di infortuni, molti incolpano stupidamente la Satta (beato, molto beato lui...) delle sue disavventure fisiche, come se avere una bella e famosa fidanzata fosse un qualcosa che lede i muscoli.
Il suo vero problema (lo stesso che limita la carriera del francese Tsonga) e' che e' troppo grosso nella parte superiore per fare il tennista.
Troppo peso sulle gambe, sui legamenti, sulle articolazioni, sui muscoli.
Per questa ragione si infortuna cosi' spesso, non lo dico io lo dicono i fisiatri.
Manca equilibrio fra la parte alta e quella bassa.
Poi forse non ha un carattere granitico ma questo e' un altro discorso., spero davvero che possa risalire perche' il suo tennis, di gran lunga, e' quello che preferisco.

Poi c'e' lui.

Un predestinato, probabilmente se non avesse fatto il tennista sarebbe diventato uno sciatore di successo, il fisico e' quello
giusto.
Il fatto di essere un po' meno “italiano” degli altri giocatori potrebbe essere un vantaggio, e' stato criticato per aver saltato un turno di Davis ma il tennis resta uno sport individuale dove la carriera conta piu' di tutto e poi la Davis di oggi non e' certo quella di una volta.

Giocatore fantastico, regolare, preciso, potente, intelligente, difficile che molli di testa nei momenti topici degli incontri, per questo dico che e' poco italiano, sa essere freddo quando serve.
Il futuro e' suo, il tempo di Nole, Nadal, Federer oramai e' agli sgoccioli, deve solo mettere il tennis sopra ogni altra cosa.
Puo' arrivare numero 1?

While the girls enjoyed a splendid generation with Pennetta, Schiavone, Errani and Vinci, the boys struggled.

At the top of my preferences is Sonego, obviously for football reasons given that he is a passionate Granata brother.

Musetti n.28 is an absolute talent, but perhaps he lacks something to make the definitive leap in quality.

He has suffered a devastating series of injuries, many stupidly blame Satta (lucky, very lucky him...) for his physical misadventures, as if having a beautiful and famous girlfriend were something that damages the muscles.
His real problem (the same one that limits the career of the Frenchman Tsonga) is that he is too big in the upper part to be a tennis player.
Too much weight on the legs, ligaments, joints, muscles.
For this reason he gets injured so often, I'm not saying it, the physiatrists are saying it.
There is no balance between the top and bottom.
Then maybe he doesn't have a granite character but that's another matter. I really hope he can go back up because his tennis, by far, is what I prefer.

A predestined, probably if he hadn't been a tennis player he would have become a successful skier, his physique is that

The fact of being a little less "Italian" than the other players could be an advantage, he was criticized for having missed a round of Davis but tennis remains an individual sport where the career counts more than anything and then the Davis of today it is certainly not what it once was.

Fantastic player, regular, precise, powerful, intelligent, difficult to give up in key moments of matches, which is why I say that he is not very Italian, he knows how to be cold when needed.
The future belongs to him, the time of Nole, Nadal, Federer is now coming to an end, he just has to put tennis above all else.
Can he finish number 1?
In my opinion, yes.
