I will talk about Becherovka with its secret recipe, history, fame and taste. It is one of the symbol products of the Czech Republic, which has a history of 215 years. I also visited Becherovka's museum in Karlovy Vary, so I will share more detailed information with you. Let's start ⚡️
Although the recipe of Becherovka is a mystery, we only have superficial information about its contents. There are about 20 kinds of herbs and spices in this herbal liqueur. In addition to these, it consists of a mixture of liquor, pure water, orange oil and alcohol. It has a unique flavor and is one of my favorite liqueurs 😋👌
This herbal liqueur is especially recommended after a meal. It is also used in different cocktails. Its alcohol rate is 38%. This herbal liqueur is especially recommended after a meal.
So how did this liqueur turn into a national drink? It has been used for years because it is good for stomach and kidney ailments. Josef Vitus Becher experimented with liquor at the wine distillery he rented in the late 1700s.
A prince visited Karlovy Vary with his doctor from England for the treatment of his illness. This doctor's name is Dr. It is Christian Frobrig. This doctor often had a talk with Jan Becher about herbs. While leaving, Dr. Frobrig gave the recipe for a liqueur aimed at curing stomach ailments to Jan. This Recipe is sold as English Bitter.
It was first sold of this liqueur in 1807. So the first form of the liquor is this doctor's manuscript recipe and is for the treatment of stomach illness. It's fascinating that it has a therapeutic aspect 😍
Becherovka, which started to be sold to the whole world from here, was the most important export product of the country, whose name was Czechoslovakia at that time. Josef Becher's son Jan is the most important person involved in all the development processes of Becherovka, such as its current flavor and iconic bottles.
The first photo was taken on the train on the way to Prague after the Karlovy Vary trip. Actually, it was forbidden to drink alcohol on the train, so I made such an impish smile pose 😄
It is usually drunk cold. This liqueur, which is compatible with many cocktails, can also be drunk with lemon, tonic and other fruits. Maybe I can try different mixes of it and share them with you 😉
This liqueur is drunk plain in the form in a shot glass. Or it can be drunk with fruits such as tonic and watermelon, as I did. Clove, Cinnamon and Ginger flavors are prominent in the liqueur. You can drink it with fruits that you think will be compatible with these flavours 😊
Thank you 🤗
This liqueur must have a very interesting taste, spices and herbs always give a special flavor to what they are added.
And it must be special, because becoming the drink of a nation is not just anything.
Of course, the percentage of alcohol is quite high, so it is probably not to be drunk in very high quantities.
