When I was working at an office job with hardly any exercise I got to weigh 212 pounds which is the most I have ever weighed. I am 5 feet nine and a half inches tall so my body mass index was 30, better said I was obese. But then I quit that job and started walking a lot until a few years later I was down to 185 pounds and a body mass of a little less than 27, still slightly overweight but I felt really cool and healthy at that weight.
Over Christmas I gained a few pounds and started the year at 192 pounds but since it was not much I figured I would be back in shape by mid year, but then the pandemic hit and instead of walking 15,000 steps a day I went to sometimes getting 10,000 but most of the time not even walking 3,000 steps. Of course then I noticed I was having trouble with my belt, yes I was gaining and right now I am at 200 pounds a 29.1 BMI, almost obese.
But what gets me the most is the fat on my belly, it makes me feel bad apart from looking terrible so I made some Google searches and it seems the best exercise for over all core building and abs is the plank, so I started yesterday and made two twenty second reps. but today I read some more and what I read convinced me I needed to make at least two 60 second reps. So that is exactly what I did.
Now, it was extremely difficult, I am not in the best of shapes, but I managed to make the two 60 rep planks. But I am nearly 59 and have essential tremor, my hands always shake and when I do hard exercise other parts of my body also shake. So when I finished those two planks I was trembling all over which is not good. Tomorrow I will only make two 40 second planks and then see if I can eventually move up a little.
These planks look very easy but after a few seconds you find that they are not easy at all, on the other hand they are good because you can practically do them anywhere. I do hope I get into the habit of doing at least the two forty second reps every day, my stomach really needs it.
Stay safe.
