the Summer Bush Fire Season has begun!
A month ago I returned to the firefighting brigade and I wanted to share the cycling to work and back country road I love using to go to work.
It´s a 50 minute ride thought the hills between my home and our base from where we work. It´s about 12 km and I love the ride, specially when it´s still not full summer. Now the temperature is perfect. Warm but not boiling hot.
These are some ancient Olive tress I love.
The dirt track is lovely...
There is also a part of asphalt.
Ibiza is full of tourists and crazy traffic but I might only cross one other car on this track in the whole way.
As you can see it´s already quite dry, it hardly rained this winter. The summer promises to be quite challenging.

This year, so far I have only had to work in one fire last Friday. All the others were put out by my companions in other shifts. This pic was taken by one of my colleagues when the big part was out and we were putting out just hot sports. I think this pic is really funny because I.m surrounded by greenery and that is never really the case. In this situation I was trying to put out a smoking part of the undergrowth that was difficult to access because of the brambles. It´s funny because I look like I´m watering a garden! hahha!

You must be pretty strong and energetic to ride for 50mins. I bet not many people can do that😅.

Hi Romanie, it is indeed looks very dry and we heard about the temperature in Spain that was predicted to be around 40C. For local firefighters you might have a feeling when and where it could come to such fire situation. I wish that this time there is less wild fire and you will just enjoy spring and summer.

We are extremely lucky to be getting a little bit of rain now,(there was no rain since February!!) but it´s gotten too dry overall. We are expecting a very hot summer. Just hope we can reach fires before they become large bush fires! Thank you!
