Final view of restoration of a little corridor space by @myskye

*

Hello my dear Steemians,

Today after months of working on our little corridor space between the main corridor and dining room, my hubby @myskye finally finished his restoration project. He has done everything in this little space from scratch, he is perfectionist and that is why it took a lot of time for precise measurement and detailed learning of the original appearance in this old Victorian style house.

Many of you have noticed that he started posting again, to bring up his other hobby he loves Photography, visual art, so please visit his blog for that.

His this hobby of handyman that he learnt everything himself and that is helping us to do majority of careful restoration with love to history and that is another passion and love of @myskye. I really love his work and that is why I am very happy to present the beauty of his skills. I also hope that you will enjoy the series of our photography

How the corridor was looking before

This is how it was looking before:

  • typical white colour: no matter if timber or walls, I believe majority of this house is white and with time of course white gets slightly dusty grey colour

  • The tiles of floor is light grey, for me they looked like dirty and dusty tiles, I did not like it

  • steps are covered with carpet and it was green in colour, does not look good!

This is another view and the restoration work is already started.

These are steps that had only carpet over them, absolutely disaster when we removed carpet, I wanted to cry!

That is why @myskye decided to do the steps first, so that he can not see my tears :) The level of steps were build up to flat and straight surface and we used tiles a timber imitate timber and I immediately became happy 😍

The next was to remove everything that we wanted to change, such as wallpaper on wall and ceiling, the doors and frame around. I will not post all the photos that will go into our restoration man album but only the key images but I will show you all the newly done areas.

Are you ready for Restoration Result?

First of all I want to present you my favourite are and this is our new floor. We have specially chosen this pattern, it is looking like parquet but these are tiles. It was a bit difficult to work with them as they were big square sizes. @myskye needed to be some special equipment to give precise cut and shape them in order to be able to place.

After that he said: "Tiles... never again!

This is a door that we completely replaced and my hubby then applied a special stain in this beautiful dark colour.

Here I also want to draw your attention to ceiling, made from fine planks and also we decided to choose this beautiful old style ceiling lamp.

Here you can see that the corners we made like in old time decoration with timber that protects the corners from damage. Also you can see switch for light, that was done by my hubby himself too

This is another door to our bathroom, the door was renewed, stained in old oak colour and we have vintage handle in brass

Now our little corridor looks in the same style like the main corridor, timber in dark oak style, tiles in Victorian style and metal spindles.

It must have really been a very great work you did but finally you were actually able to achieve it

Yes, it took long time but result is great!

Looks spectacular and a very beautiful job.

Thank you, I also love the result :)
