In our current day and age, the role of the parent or guardians cannot be underrated as it is an extremely key component in deciding the future of the ward. This is because, as a young child you usually do not know much so you might take the advise of your friends who may also be just as ignorant.
In our country, this is usually the case. Our parents usually do not see themselves in the position of being our friends. Rather, they like to be seen as the authoritarians at all times. They feel like if they are too close to their children, they are likely to lose that authority.
But which is better? Your kid telling you their problems and working out a solution together or them telling their friend who is likely to render a rather poor advice they may heed to? If we prefer the first scenario, then we must want them near us at all times.
It has become quite a thing with african parents that they usually assume that schools teach children everything they need to know. But these days, the some of the teachers themselves are a danger to these kids especially the females. It is the responsibility of the parent to make sure that the kid understand these things.
The role of guardians goes beyond simply providing for the child or putting them through an education. That is perhaps the easiest part. They must also be the friends of their children in order for them to grow into prominent people in life.
