Today, I'd like to recommend a history-related book that I just bought for my child. Although I bought it for my child, in fact, I really want to read it myself. It is DK A Global History in Time.

Why did I buy this book? At first, I saw other parents recommending it online, and I became somewhat curious. Then I searched for the sales ranking of the DK science popularization series of books and found that this book was actually among the top ones, ranking either second or third.

We have actually bought several encyclopedias in the DK series at home. For example, DK World Encyclopedia of Nature, which ranks first, has been in our family for several years. The cover and pages have been worn out by my son, which fully shows how much he loves it.

What made me decide to buy DK A Global History in Time was mainly that it solved a historical learning problem that had long troubled me. In the past, when we studied world history and Chinese history, they always seemed so disconnected, as if world history and Chinese history were two parallel lines that never intersected.

It was very difficult to connect the events that happened at the same time both at home and abroad. When studying, we would feel confused and it was hard to form a complete historical understanding. However, the greatest highlight of this book is that it breaks down this barrier.

From beginning to end, it follows the chronological order. With a clear timeline, it introduces famous historical events through the way of up-and-down pulling annotations, making global history an organic whole.

In this book, each time period is preceded by a detailed chapter for specific introduction, and then it is expanded and narrated separately. For example, when we read about the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period in China, just by referring to the timeline, we can simultaneously understand the prosperity and development of the ancient Greek city-states. Through such a comparison, the historical development context of different regions becomes clear at once.

When children learn about history, they no longer come into contact with fragmented knowledge, but can grasp it from an overall perspective, which greatly satisfies their desire to explore history.

This book is also richly illustrated. These pictures have been carefully collected from all over the world. The content covers various representative elements of political changes, economic fluctuations, cultural clashes, scientific and technological breakthroughs, and periods of artistic prosperity, vividly restoring every wonderful moment in history. A large number of high-definition cultural relic pictures and other realistic illustrations are very attractive to children.

When children see these exquisite pictures and then carefully read the text annotations beside them, they can have a deeper understanding of the stories and meanings behind historical events.

Therefore, I think this book is particularly suitable for primary and secondary school students to read. Of course, for adults who are interested in history, this book is also of great value. Even if we have a certain reserve of historical knowledge, reading this book can still bring us a lot of new knowledge and insights.
