Bireuen Ministry of Religious Affairs Continues Tree Planting on Waqf Land in Gandapura District.
The Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) of Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, has resumed tree planting in the eastern region, precisely in Gandapura District, after previously planting was carried out in the central region, Jeumpa District, Thursday, October 17, 2024.
This program is part of an ongoing effort to increase the productivity of waqf land and provide greater benefits to the community and the environment, with a target of planting 2000 trees.
It is known, according to the report from the District Coordinator, Abdul Halim, M Kom I, the trees that were donated were coconut trees according to the request of the gampong (Village). Planting was carried out at four locations, namely, in Gampong Lapang Barat, Cot Tunong, Lingka Kuta, and Samuti Makmur, with a total of 216 coconut trees, which were distributed according to the needs of each Gampong.
Head of Islamic Community Guidance, Iskandar SHI in this case representing the Acting Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, said that the program was an initiative of the previous Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Bireuen, who carried out a movement through the program "2000 Tree Planting Movement on Productive Waqf Land".
This program is expected to be a pioneer in utilizing waqf land productively and sustainably, and is able to change the mindset of the community regarding the use of waqf land, which is not only for religious purposes, but also for the benefit of the environment and the community's economy, said Iskandar
Hopefully the movement that we are doing can also be followed, maybe the Sub-district Head can help with fertilizer, and the Police Chief can help with weed poison, said Iskandar in a joking tone when giving his speech.
On that occasion, the Head of the Gandapura District, Azmi S Ag, said he was very touched by the program from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Bireuen.
Usually what we hear is that waqf is in the form of land, but this time, there is a waqf in the form of trees, this is extraordinary. Hopefully ASN from the local government can also be moved like what was done by ASN Kemenag Bireuen, said Azmi
Azmi also left a message to the village officials and local community, so that the tree that had been donated by ASN Kemenag, should be well maintained, "Don't let it be eaten by cows, let's take care of it together" he concluded.
Present at the event were the Head of TU Sub-Division, Head of Penmad, Zawa Organizer, Head of KUA and Head of Madrasah in the Gandapura District area, Muspika Elements, and Agricultural Extension Workers, as well as village officials and the local community.
