The Olembe stadium yesterday host Cameroon vs Comoros in the first knockout match of the ongoing AFCON. Cameroon was coming into this game with good records, good form and the fans had very high hopes for the team. All the players were Strong physically and psychologically. On the other hand, Comoros came into the game with the most unfortunate condition in the history of AFCON. 12 of their players including 2 goal keepers had contracted Corona virus. Their head coach too tested positive. This means that they were already down psychologically because many of their star players had covid-19. Due to this situation, they were forced to play an outfield play in the goal post. Everyone expected Cameroon to destroy this team but it didn't turn out that way. Comoros played calmly even a careless tackle at the 7th minute saw him sent off with a red card. Cameroon played with low intensity while creating few chances and missing to score.

It was until the 30th minute that Toko Ekambi found the net with a nice pass from V. Aboubakar. After the first half, Comoros held on their game with confidence defending nicely and launching quick counters. Aboubakar later scored to give Cameroon a 2 goals lead at the 65th minute but the lead was reduced at the 80 minute when Comoros scored a stunning free-kick 30 yards away from the area. It ended 2:1 for Cameroon but Comoros was proud of themselves and the left field with their heads lifted. What a poor performance from the Lions.

In Bafussam, Gambia exchanged lessons with Guinea in the knockout match. It should be noted that Gambia is a debutant and an underdog who have been performing well since day 1. Guinea is more regular at this tournament but their form is not encouraging.

Gambia win the tie 1:0 to kick Guinea out of the tournament so Cameroon will lock horns with Guinea on Saturday to see who proceeds to the finals.
