Great questions. I am not Mike Adams, but I do know the answer to your question about the ammo cans. Yes, they can be cleaned up and reused because that was only surface rust. There were no pin holes or oxidation in or around the seal and the clasp was still intact.... Personally I'd repaint the cans with marine paint which would make them withstand exposure to wet conditions even better.....

By the way, your idea of ziplock bags it in harmony with my thinking of redundancy ... Yes, I would have nested inside the box another box and/or a sealed plastic bag... That's what I do with my ammo: I seal all my ammo in storage bags which have a valve so the air can be pumped out....
