Entitled Son Is Forced To Shop At Goodwill For New Clothes

in humility •  7 years ago

Mother humbles her son by taking him to shop for clothes with his own money at a second hand store.

Mother from Georgia chose to teach her son a lesson on humility and respect.

A lot of us are guilty of being materialistic and it does have some impact on how we treat others as well as view them. Not always, but more often than not.

""So lately, my 13 year old son had been acting a little... entitled. Acting like he's too good to shop at Wal-Mart or making snarky comments about kids at school who shop at the goodwill and quite a few other things. I don't tolerate that. Today, he took his own $20.00 to the goodwill to buy clothes to wear the entire week to school. Whatever he found is what he would have to wear. He isn't happy and shed a few tears but I firmly believe in 15 years he will look back and laugh at the day his Mom made him shop at goodwill. I want to teach my kids that money isn't everything and if you have to degrade other people because of where they shop, then you too will shop there. Side note, I love the goodwill!!""

Cierra Brittany Forney expressed her views on Facebook regarding her child.

Great life lesson! Kids often act entitled and this sounds like a good way to remind them of the important things.

Omg! he is being forced?
That's ridiculous what an Humility
Keep up the good work @joseph.

Love it! Good to hear that parents out there are still being parents. And my daughter LOVES clothes shopping at the Goodwill and other discount shops too.

Parents forget sometimes that they are shaping an adult, not just babysitting a kid until they graduate. Parenting is tough work, and sometimes calls for being firm and not budging. He will look back and thank you someday, I agree!

excellent reflection! children have to be educated from the time they are little, education is learned at home and reinforced at school
