There was a period of time when I was making very meticulous drawings in efforts to one day get them printed on the bottom of a skateboard. The technique was in the form organic Tesselations. Where shapes fit into each other.

My technique is a non-mathematical form of tessellation. Its really a fun process to do because when you draw something, you look at the negative space that the shape creates. You then use your imagination to decide what that negative space looks like, and proceed to illustrate it.

It's kind of amazing what sorts of imagery come from your subconscious image bank. you will see pictures of animals, pictures of plants, humans, faces, any many cartoonish imagery from video games, like a Bomb-omb. There are also some slight political undertones, such as the "666" and the "civil defense" logo, that probably came from this being the time in my life that I was waking up to the corruption of the world.

Oh look, on the far left there is a little thing of Mcdonalds fries lol. Haha, and look at the bottom, there is a road with a flat skateboard. Haha, like a tabletop with wheels? I like the green face bellowing out musical notes. Hm, what else, oh, haha, there is the face of Powdered Toast Man on that finger near the middle of the composition.

So I drew this with a pencil on paper, about 30 inches by 9 inches. I then took it to kinkos and scanned the thing. I then dragged it into photoshop and used the paint bucket tool to fill in every little shape. This took FOREVER!

Have a nice day!

Seems crazy difficult. Great job.

thanks for the comment, it's not difficult, if you just be open to anything your mind wants to see, it is time consuming though.

Dang super cool!
