Greetings steemians!

India is a land of festival, spirituality and celebration. Three days ago I had a chance to visit Haridwar, a famous religious city of Hindus. It is spread across the banks of mighty and the holiest river the Ganges.

It's the month of Sravana according to Hindu calendar. It is the time of worshipping lord Shiva. In the north India, people bring water from the river Ganga and pour it over shivalinga, the fallus form of lord Shiva. Sometimes, they travel hundreds of miles of distance on foot. It is a tough journey but the devotees complete is with the religious fervor and enthusiasm.

I clicked photos of kanwariyas with my smartphone. Though i am not a religious person and dont like religious persons dogmatic and irrational behaviour, I couldn't help admiring their passion. Some were not obeying the traffic rules and even many had brought big DJ speakers carrying in tractors and trucks. They were realy creating a lot of nuisance on the road. In the above photos you can see the kanwariyas and their tractor carrying gigantic speakers.

All photos have been taken by me.
I advise foreign national not to visit Haridwar, Rishikesh and nearby areas during kanwar season which will end in the second week of August.

Thnks dear for your nice comment. Definitely it was a colorful parade, but rather disturbing the life of ordinary people.
