Since it's that time of year, the time to eat a lot, I guess this series is relevant for those who seek good excuses to indulge and remain relatively lean.
In this series Jason Wittrock embarks on a 21-day self-experiment in which he eats about 4,000 kcals a day.
The big caveat is that he is doing it in a state of ketosis, and the bulk of calories come from fat, about 300-400 grams a days.
Obviously, I'd say not to try this at home. In ketosis, fuel metabolism changes in favor of fat oxidation and in defavor of carbohydrate oxidation.
There are a lot of theories that I can think of, for which he kept his leanness. But I'll save them for another time...
In this second video he tests for ketosis using urine strips. In the next one he uses more accurate measures to test for blood ketones.
Leaving that aside, it's a nice exercise of imagination to see what he is eating. Enjoy watching and Merry Christmas to all of us!

Why do you think this is? Altered thermodynamics or is weight loss really about insulin and calories in vs calories out?
