Botanically named photinia x fraseri, Christmas berry is a nothospecies of the Rosaceae family.
Also called red tip photinia, it is a hybrid between photinia glabra and photinia serratifolia.
The evergreen leaves are oval and dark green, but is dark red when young in early spring.
This is a compact shrub with an upright habit that can grow into a medium-sized tree up to 5 meters tall.
