Camphor Tree (Cinnamomum Camphora)

Camphor tree, whose botanical name is cinnamomum camphora, is a tall evergreen tree growing to 39.5 feet tall and 6.5 feet in trunk diameter.

Also called camphorwood or camphor laurel, this tree is found in the Kanto and southern regions of Japan, Taiwan, and China.

The tree has glossy, oval, alternate leaves with pointed tips.

Today, camphor growing naturally in Okinawa is said to be ancient and has spread to other locations.
