Quicken for Personal Finance

Hi Friends,

I use Quicken for my personal finances:

Quicken has been around a long time now and I started using it about 12 years ago. You can track your personal assets in there - cash, stocks, homes, and other assets (like crypto) as well as your liabilities - credit cards, mortgages, loans, etc, to get your overall personal balance sheet, which gives you your net worth.

Some things are at historical cost unless you adjust them (home value, other assets like crypto), but most everything is “live” where you can see the current amounts (most banks/brokerages have an integration that syncs everything). Since I have been using it for so long, it is cool to see your net worth getting larger as time progresses and also see your income and expenses each year.

You can categorize things easily too, so running your business profit/loss or numbers for taxes is simple. If you are a real nerd, you can put in your monthly budget and run budget to actual reports any time you want to help control/analyze your spending.

Do you use Quicken? If not Quicken, which personal finance software/app to do you use?

Thanks for coming by,
Brian

Does it cost or it is free?

It costs money, unfortunately. I think around $50 per year
