A Few Thoughts #1 - We never truly lose ego, but we're able to shape it in alignment with our true selves.

in life •  7 years ago

Have you ever had an ego death? An experience in life when you had to let go of beliefs or ideas about who you were and who you'd become?

Congratulations!

This is such an intense experience and on the other side of this process you get to discover more of yourself.

Who will you become when your previous limitations have been removed, when new opportunity is there for you every day the sun comes up?

After the ego death, or 'the dark night of the soul', we don't completely lose the ego, for the ego is our subjective identity. Instead we remove all of its layers and are left with a brand new canvas. We are able to imprint upon this canvas new ideas and beliefs to take place of the old ones. This isn't an overnight process, but a lifelong journey to ascend into a greater awareness.

We are not the things that separate us or make us different from each other. Our definition of who we truly are goes beyond subjective experience and into the cosmic experience of oneness, a reality which we are all a part of.

Knowing and sensing even part of this, we can begin integrating this reality into our egos and allow ourselves to define the subjective self as connected, as part of the whole, and as in tune with all life.

Of course our old ways, patterns, and ideas can still knock at our mind's door, but we now know that we don't always have to answer.

Nicely written :)

This(ese) question(s) have been knocking around in the corners of my mind lately. How does one achieve an 'ego death'? Does it happen as part of hitting rock bottom or is mediation the only way to clean the canvas and start anew? Can we ever really reprogram what was programmed long ago?

Have you experienced an ego-death? or is an ongoing process? If yes, How did you come to experience it ?

as always. well written and niceeeeeeeeee!

Bryan man, very beautiful!
Enjoyed the reading of it.
And i totally agree with that we shouldn't eliminate the ego but rather work with it and let it show us our beliefs about ourselves and what we think of ourselves
