Ordinary people

I don't think ordinary people exist.

I don't actually think they ever did.

Not because I think we are all extraordinary in our own way (although I suppose this may be true). No, more because I believe everyone is unique - even if we may display signs of similarity.

I suppose as we track across cultures and back through time we come across areas and times where opportunities were (are) limited for people. At these points it may be easier to generalise about certain demographics or groups.

We may, for example, see some people as poor. Or as under (or un) educated. As unclean, uncouth, or unwashed.

As ordinary.

Unfortunately I don't think there has ever been a time anywhere when so many people were wealthy that such a state seemed ordinary.

And what does that say about our perceptions of the ordinary?

And ordinary people?

Like bricks in a wall, no two are identical.

I don't think they exist.

May all beings be happy.

Well said @drwom! A very thoughtful post. :)
Let's stop judging people on our ideology of ordinary and extraordinary for as you rightly said, "each individual is extraordinary in his own way.."
