No Fish in My Kitchen

Being married means you have to make sacrifices. It often means you have to do things to make your wife happy even after you just did something to make your wife happy. In this instance, I had to move my fish out of our kitchen even though my wife requested that the fish be in the kitchen when we moved into this house.

The fish tank was always set up at the front of my shop prior to us closing it to reopen it in our new home. The first thing my wife said to me was that she wanted my fish tank in the kitchen where everyone could enjoy it as opposed to my office where it was more for me.

Everyone is in my office every day, just as often as we are all in the kitchen. She just wanted to watch the select fish she bought for the tank while she cooked.

This tank has been in the kitchen for almost two years, my shop two years prior to that. I was very proud of my tank at the shop as the fish would just grow in abundance and live months past their projected life spans. Once we moved to the house the fish seemed to stop producing new fish. We thought it was due to the constant traffic in the kitchen from the little ones running and playing and often hitting the tank as they ran by.

This was not the case at all we found out after the three black colored fish my wife bought, all died. I have always fancied bright multi-colored fish with bright markings and fins. Once her fish died off, my fish started to repopulate like crazy. On the day her last black fish died I had 5 fish left. This was a few months ago.

She has since then told me she wanted me to remove the fish tank from the kitchen, the tank had started to leak a little and made the kitchen floor wet each morning. I still think it had to do with the death of her fish and the proof that they were cannibals.

I told her once I had the money for a new fish tank I would move them. I have not worked in almost 2 years so I thought I was safe to leave my fish in the kitchen forever. Haha, nope.

@imaginedragon came home with this for me.

I was very happy and started to fill it with video games. She promptly told me to stop, that's not what it is for she said.
Well, what the hell did you buy me a cabinet for that I can not use I asked her. She said you'll see, I am only one person give me time to get the rest of it.

Yay! I cleaned a section of the room that took me hours in my condition and I don't even know what the hell it is for.

She then came home with more.........

Hell yeah! New fish tank!!!!

I instantly told her I wanted bottled water for this one as our tap water is a little yellow! She was not pleased.

That is a very cool fish tank! I’m sorry to hear about your fishes that moved on but the new one looks content. My husband really wanted a fish tank a couple years back. We got a stand and tank, but never went beyond that, believe it or not. He changed his mind once he thought about all the responsibilities of cleaning and feeding. Good luck with this new addition to your family. So sweet of her.

I have a 100 gallon one in the basement but no one is able to help me carry it up or set it up, it's salt water. I have always had luck getting a male and female and having them reproduce and fill the tank.

That size fish tank is true dedication. I vaguely remember hubby contemplating whether to do fresh or salt water. Lol, good thing we didn’t set it up. Kids came soon after and hobby life was over as we knew it.

I’ve never seen baby fishes up close and personal in a tank. That must be awesome seeing new life enter the world and taking over your tank. Good takeover, of course. Hope your luck continues with the new couple you’ll add!

That size tank in salt water is an expensive hobby, that is a reason I have not pushed it since not working.

The kids make me keep the tank going to be honest. I love them but the kids want to feed them all day. They are a good reminder.

Baby fish look like 2 eyes and a tail, it is pretty funny to be honest.

Hey, happy husband since you got a new fish tank and all!
I'm sorry her fish were cannibals, though. LOL. I knew a guy in college who had several fish tanks and he fed the big fish feeder fish; he did it once when we were all over playing tabletop games and it was like the death nature show. One fish had a tail sticking out of its mouth for the rest of the night.

Yes, very happy husband! It took us until their death to learn they were cannibals, it was pretty funny because she was the one who realized it.

Sounds like your friends may have had Oscars. They are pretty cool and will eat hot dogs as well as live fish.

You are really a curious writer.

Happy married life!

Loool well the perks of being married

Happy wife happy life!

No truer words have ever been written, lol.

Fish are stupid and boring. I I really don't get why people want them as pets. Or are you breeding them for food?

The tank or the fish is calming. Something about it makes me happy. I guess I could eat them if I was starving.......

Upvoted.

Thanks @yehey!
