Back to the gym after a weekend of fun.
It went way way better than expected.
Maybe the extra rest day I had did my body some good.
The moment I got on the bike it just felt 'good'.
It's hard to explain but sometimes you just know after 10 seconds of pedaling it will be a good one.
I have always used the bike for warmup but lately have incorporated HIIT training on the recommendation of @gflfitness.
I'm doing 10 min HITT training (3x times a week) before starting my main exercise of the day (chest today).
Today I hit a new record.
5km under 10 minutes easy!
I was pretty happy with that and enough breath left to make a photo :)
The rest of the exercises went well.
I think I'm almost back to my top when it comes to strength of about 4-5 years ago.
The difference being I'm more fat :)
Food and drinks keep being a problem though.
I just love that stuff too much.
After the gym I was hungry.
So, I made this.
Tuna wraps with cucumber, avocado, onion and a bit of mayo.
I had two.
I think it's a fairly decent meal but who really knows?
Now, it's almost dinner time now and I know I can eat again.
I'll drink plenty of water to minimize the food intake.
But truth be told that tactic is not helping me much yet :)

You just need to force yourself to cycle the cravings out of your system. Have you ever tried intermittent fasting?
I used to struggle with cravings for unhealthy food. Mostly due to the fact that I never really gain much weight, so tasty food was an easy form of substance abuse for a long time since it had no immediate, visible drawbacks.
As I got older, I started to gain weight, so I needed to fix the problem before it became an issue. I simply fasted in order to cycle out the bad habits.
I also really got into exercising, which forced me to rethink my food habits, so that helped.
But the big thing was just fasting for a while, so the cravings got less and less. After a fast, I was totally satisfied with a healthy meal, so it was easier to transition into good habits.
Food is tough, man. A lot of it so intricately designed to make you addicted to it. We never really consider food to be a form of substance abuse, but food certainly does tickle the same areas in our brains as drugs do.
But you do feel so much better when you eat right. It's not just a cliché.

I never tried intermittent fasting. I'll do some research.
I think my biggest problem at the moment is that I have a hard time accepting that I can't out-train what I eat. Like when I was in my late 20's.
4-5 per week to the gym won't cut it anymore.
I remember when I quit smoking (cold-turkey) I had the constant thought that life would never be enjoyable anymore without smokes.
That lasted for about 6 months before realising that wasn't true.
I guess forming a new habit for food and drinks will take the same amount of time.
Thanks for your nice comment.

Funny. I never in a million years would have thought of you as a smoker. You seem so rational and level-headed. But I hear you. I was a long-time smoker, as well. I've quit twice. Once for two years, and again recently because of my mom's cancer. She was a smoker, too, so it's probably what caused the cancer. Especially when it began in her lung and mouth. So, out of respect for her, I decided to quit again.
And I'm going through the same thing: the idea that life just won't be enjoyable without smoking.
It's getting easier, though, I'm at the six-month mark.
Food is so hard, though, man. It's hard because unlike cigarettes, we actually need food daily. So it's this constant struggle to only eat healthy. I've gotten better at it, like I said. So it is possible.
I don't know, I was inspired by MMA fighters who seem to make these incredible weight cuts in short amounts of time.
But look into intermittent fasting. At first, it's terrible because you're going to get "hangry".
This is because the nutrients from your previous meal have been used, or are close to being used up. Your body has stored nutrients in case of an emergency, but it wants to skip using the emergency storage, and therefore a signal is sent to your brain that tells you to be angry.
The primary fuel for your body and your brain is glucose, and if and when your blood sugar levels drop too low, your body thinks something life-threatening is going on, and you feel irritated.
It's good to learn to expect it, so you can adjust. It's been more than once that I've posted on Steemit even while hangry, hah. Not a good idea. I still forget sometimes that I have no reason to be angry, it's just the fasting.

Speaking of records, you should try to avoid eating too much protein with too much fat, try beer and good hot dogs, but I recommend you run 40 minutes every day and above all eliminate daily monitoring that is depressive and anti diet. ;)

Yes an extra rest day helps and your body is fully loaded with carbohydrates = tons of energy.

My dear @exyle, while exercising, can savor, but every once in a while, not every day, I know that stopping to eat and drink well is difficult but not impossible, but the important thing is that you exercise, and although you are a little plump, it does not look bad, Bianca should be proud of her chubby, by the way it looks good without glasses, you should wear contact lenses, and show more those beautiful eyes. Greetings.

The mayonnaise removes the healthy to your food so you will have to work harder to lower those kilos! Either way, I'm glad to see you're doing well :D

It’s completely understandable. In spring and summer season I mostly go jogging along the beach or to our favorite park 4 miles each run three times a week if possible. When we come back, there is usually something good in the fridge. It’s sooo tempting. Few hours ago I came back from the beach and when I opened the fridge there it was, polish homemade cake. I’m still holding up after knowing how hard it is to run 4 miles and then just destroy it with this one, two, three... pcs. of this delicious cake. I’m sure I end up eating at least one piece.

Hi exyle. I am glad you like the exercise bike as well. If it feels good keep going. My record is 120 Km in one session. I can't recall how many hours but it was crazy. I lost something like 4.2 kg in one go. The floor was a mess with sweat everywhere. I do get carried away and once I am on don't tend to stop. I need to start again as I really enjoy it. Thanks for reminding me lol.

I have heard good things about the HIIT,it keeps you burning fat longer after your workout. Just find a way to cut out some food and you will start getting ripped and stronger.Keep sugary drinks to a minimum too.

I too go for HIIT 3 days a week yet ten minutes on treadmill or bike feels like the best warmup - and then you feel like up for anything .. haha :)
And controlling diet wont be a problem man.. when you will work hard in the gym and start seeing the initial results . U wl automatically refrain from anything that hampers your hard wrk.. just human thing :)
Keep going! 5km in 10 minutes! Pretty awesome

I want to like tuna, but I just can't do it. I was on a diet once where basically all I would eat for lunch was cottage cheese and tuna. It was horrible. They have the new flavored ones, but they all still just kind of taste the same to me. Awesome job getting back in the gym. I need to steal a little of your motivation!

5km in under 10 minutes is a pretty good timing.
I get really bored on the stationary bike so I only use it for 5 minutes to warm up but those 5 minutes feel more like 15 minutes.
