Visiting my brother and made him him a (silent) Steemian. I'm currently looking for ways to give him some ROI on his investment.

in life •  7 years ago

Yesterday I spend most of the day with my brother.

He's the dad of Juliet, my niece. (the owner of a little bit of bitcoin).

We always see each other at family events but rarely do we spend some quality time together.

This week he's off from work.

I drove to his place yesterday at around 12:00.

Opening the door I was greeted by Juliet!

She was over the moon!

Santa had brought her a huge Barbie Camper.

She showed it to me.

I was impressed!

For fun I told her.

"Do you know you own some bitcoin!"

She looked at me silly.

She couldn't give a rats ass :)

It made laugh.

Soon after we went for a walk to the playground.

My brother has a lot of trouble understanding where the value comes from of a STEEM token or a Bitcoin for that matter.

Therefore it must most likely be a bubble.

And from that viewpoint, it's actually understandable why one would think this.

Now, I talk about this crypto stuff almost weekly in my vlogs and think about it every single day.

For me, it's clear that it's not.

But my brother has no time to watch or read any of it. He works 60-80 hours a week and also needs time for his family.

There is therefore not much time left to really look into it. (and when you do hear about it it's probably from the news or the paper where they say it's a bubble, strengthening the believe you already had).

But we had time yesterday so, I took him through the basics here while walking.

And then slowly let him to the STEEM blockchain and why I believe it's a winner. (3 second block times, no fees, scalable, development, monetization of the Blockhain and SMT's....to name a few...)

I must have done something right because by the end of it he wanted to invest.

He bought 100 STEEM of me yesterday and we sent it to his account to start with and he wants to gradually buy some more. (the way I always buy).

Pretty cool stuff.

I don't think he will ever blog (no time). But at least he's on the blockchain now :)

I'm currently looking for ways to give him some ROI on his investment.

If you have any suggestions let me know.

haha great, the more people here the better!

I love visits to my cousins and friends places and where I either tell them about the block chain or about bitcoin itself , since they are not aware of it , it feels good to educate them .

If he delegates his SP to you he will get a ROI right? I'm not sure about how it works. If not he could just come on Steemit occasionally (once a week or something) and upvote a few posts he likes. Even if he just leaves it in SP and does nothing he will earn a small amount of interest.

Nice way to spend the holidays... You can inform your brother about Steem delegation, which will make him earn even without blogging. Glad to see he is finally convinced to invest in Steem.

I was thinking about minnowbooster as an easy ROI for the non blogger/investor.

yes minnowbooster is quite professional and various options available for ROI based return.

yup there are many many bots these days 😂 upvote bots

Yes, minnowbooster is best way for non blogger/investor to earn ROI. Also, I believe there is another one called Utopian. I used MB for a few months and works very well. Just make sure to "unvest" your shares once contract is up b/c it doesn't automatically, you have to manually by delegating 0 at end of term.

Yeah I think this is easiest method also.

At least he's here, my Brother is very stubborn!

Lmao hahaha 😂

Hi @exyle It so sweet of you that you care for your brother and his family. I agree, minnowbooster and steem delegation for a busy dad like him. And once in a while when you visit them, try to convince him to post a short blog, and you can inform us and I'm willing to help by upvoting his post, and I'm sure many of your followers will do the same. Who knows one day, when he chose to retire from work, he will have more time steeming.

Glad to hear that one more intelligent person joined steemit our family ! 😍 good work boss @exyle

People lacking time to do the research and getting involved is probably one of the biggest problems for a broader adoption of crypto. It's pretty sad at the same time because these people (like your brother) are working their lives away and thus losing a big portion of the time they can spend with their children and loved ones. I'm so grateful crypto has shown me a way out.

another one into this great platform.. some people you want to invest to explain... but for a lot I don't.. my daughter @creatisa (12)doesn't ask questions were the money comes from so that was an easy extra user on this platform.. she already made het fist posts

That’s cool. I always wonder what this all will be like when our kids grow up.

See, kids ask a lot of questions every time. But questions which keeps adults busy seem to not bother them. They just accept things as is. I really don't understand why everyone steps into a car without them knowing how every bolt and wire is connected but with money, it seems the whole world wants to trace it back down to when the earth was created.

way to go to be an advocate! :) nice work. it's a funny one right, so clearly it's an EDUCATION gap where people like the comfort of a 60/80 hour week and don't spend any creative time to research other ways to live, it's like it's a tried and tested model so they stick to it. i personally can't live that life when i know blockchains exist now :)

Mark, you already do good work by post interesting blogs; now you also stand up as a speaksmen for STEEMIT.
We all try to spread information and indeed in many cases it is hard to explain (not a matter of convince) how it works, but when they get it, they are immdiately enthousiastic and would like to be involved into the crypto's. And when it is on STEEMIT, we did a very good job. Lets build the community even much bigger.

Your question how to help your brother to have some ROI.
I would suggest, because it will sure bring joy and fun; take the family for a day out to a nice park (Efteling); and make it a special momnt and share good memories together. When the children have fun in a ride; you have time to have a chat about crypto in your(s) life.

Oh yeah, it's great news that your brother has also joined our ecosystem and I am sure that you will correctly instruct him how to conduct business on the Steemit . From myself, I advised your brother if he does not have enough time, it is better to rent out the SP, of course, this is a simple but stable income! Thank you Mark and keep us informed of what's happening!

This is an amazing news @exyle the entire family of yours is coming on the blockchain. @clio @ezzy and others. I'm pleased to hear this news.
Concerning your bro,

He's the dad of Juliet, my niece. (the owner of a little bit of bitcoin).
I like that. It's a plus for the steem cryptocurrency. If he doesn't have time to blog, he could just keep curating or delegate some SP to a stable and trusted project on steemit.

wow you are using every moment of your life wisely and inspiring other's too great to see you spent some quality time with your brother :D

If he is never going to blog I would definitely suggest delegating out the SP for some returnand one from left field, possibly delegating it to Randowhale for some SBD return? It would only be cents until he had a bit going but with SBD so high even though its falling a bit it might be a way of gettting some return back

I will try minnow booster for now for him. He bought 600 STEEM. I'm interested what the ROI will be.

Ooo, 600! He will probably get about half. Just under half a steem a day which is not bad. It all mounts up!

You did good Job.
I have not succeed in explaining to my brother on Steemit for 5 month

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Thank you, and I don't blame you it's not an easy process.

He could start a crypto brothers walking club on his lunch break and learn about crypto ideas to gain ROI .

lol

It's nice to share the Steemit love with your family

I have also encounter this a lot. After so discussion i have come to a conclusion. It depends on from where that person got there very 1st information about cryptos. If it was pro cryptos they support it and if it was against cryptos they dont.

Brilliant!! It's really nice that you always seem to maintain the perfect balance between work and life.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

heheheh everyone gets skeptical at first but with time they become addicted...it happened to me too so i wouldn't blame your brother (LOLZZ)

If your brother uses Steemvoter.com or Steemauto.com to automatically upvote your blogs (or other), he will receive curation rewards. Maybe not very much, but still.

Other option: rent out his SP (for example on minnowbooster)

Best option: actually post something now and then. Don't have to be full blown blogs, just read here and there some posts and comment sometimes. That would be highly recommended.

If you bought steem during the last dip then good job :) I think he could put that steem to work by delegating it to a project.

Delegate to boomerang, done.

It's amazing how you managed to bring your brother on board. I need to learn the trick from you. Not everybody will be a blogger on the steemit blockchain but everybody is a potential investor on the blockchain

yes, that is true. It's not all about blogging. When SMT's come out SP will also get a new purpose as bandwidth.

Nice post. Very cool.

I wish your brother would blog the same way you do :)

I must say, that i believe that bitcoin specifically is in a bubble. Its main asset is that it is a first comer, which isn't really enough to be the biggest coin, if you ask me.
So i do believe in a big correction at one point, like we saw with the .com bubble.
But like with the .com bubble, some companies will make it out alive, and grow huge (Amazon, apple, microsoft, google etc).
I think we will see the same with blockchain technology, as it grows and matures. Most coins will dissapear from existence, but some will stay.

I believe that steem is a remarkable good technnology, and if we do right, we can compete with the likes of youtube, facebook and twitter. And i can't wait until that day :)

@exyle I love the fact that maybe 2% of the World owns any crypto at all, yet the "HATERS" all say Bitcoin is in a bubble...........Once people snap out of it they will realize what they are missing............

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Just tell him that even if he never blog he still get some coins from the yearly interest which is about 7% at the moment. Its better than a bank account where you get mostly 1-2 percent.
Edit : the interest rate changed,7 % yearly interest is not actual anymore

Thats great news.

You have really done well even to bring to the platform, I know he don't have much time to blog. But him investing on steem is a great opportunity for him.

haha. did you sell your 100 Steem at a discount to him?

@exyle Thank you for constantly promoting this blockchain!

Information sharing is a very good thing. And this shows you are one step ahead of people who only want himself to grow not to everyone.

Kids are very pretty.

I have started my travel and professional photoshoot blog here. I hope you like it.

He bought 100 STEEM of me yesterday and we sent it to his account to start with and he wants to gradually buy some more. (the way I always buy).

If he is able to keep this up and probably get up to 5k, he could delegate his SP to another user and watch his return come in, in form of steempower.

With this, he never need to blog and he is already an investor getting his return weekly or even daily as the case maybe and with the current price if steempower means more reward to him.

His money kept safe and still getting profit literally doing nothing.

That's one of the many benefits of the steem blockchain

The Steem price is bound to in crease over time, say 1-5years, so his 100 Steem would yield a reasonable return that would mean a passive income for him. Consider him to be a buy and hold kind of investor.

Yeah you have such a great holiday and you spread the knowledge too best way to spend holiday and also make him understand steem drgredation
Hope your brother now understan but i also don't know where the steem cone frome hahahaha
I am still exist in steemit

just tell him to write some creative comments on other people's post. it works for me

❤Peace of the family Come to the secret of happiness Sorry I'm giving up on everyone and this grieves me I lived without compassion or tenderness
But thank God I have a family here in a steemit community I love you

U should convinced ur brother for invest in steemit plateform .The world's best plateform there is no risk for lose.

@exyle great job as always u dne

Very nice post . Thanks...

Nice post

wow, you both are brothers looking great. and your niece's are are so cute. wow. i hope you have enjoyed your stay with him. THANK YOU

I am showing this to my own brother who is also ignorant of the whole crypto thing. He still has a hard time believing any of this.

"He is lying. This is propaganda to get you into buying STEEM. He probably shoped that image."

If you don't want to pe part of something, you can come up with a hundred excuses on the fly XD.

I am trying the same with my brother. He resists change and is stuck in the old ways, but I am still working on him LOL! Have a great day!

so good!!

super!! it's clearly exceptional that you usually appear to preserve an appropriate balance among work and life.

Nice work with your brother. His investment in Steem will sure yield profit

Wonderfull post .. you and your brother looking very nice ...Thank you, best of your luck....

aww! cool

@exyle,
You spent your time in a good way and you gave your brother a chance to be a millionaire in near future :D
"I'm currently looking for ways to give him some ROI on his investment."
Delegate Power ;) I think it's the best way!

Cheers~

Outstanding story writing. I like this. It's good we should help each other. Very effective cooperation. Nice post ever.

I would suggest your brother to invest here and start a project for the community. Like partner with any minnow who has some knowledge about the platform and start a project just like curie and sndbox that can help minnows who are creative. For example, I want to promote some new tags, will ask the community to write some creative stuff about that specific tag and best 10 posts would be given a 100% upvote from us. All the leg work will be done by the minnow by using the SP of the investor. In this way, the investor and the minnow both can earn from the 14 posts in a week they will write about the winners and for the next contests. The investor will not have to do anything except for delegating his SP to that minnow or making a new account with the name of the project.
Does this make any sense?

Steemian recruiting Hehe mad cool

People lacking time to do the research and getting involved is probably one of the biggest problems for a broader adoption of crypto. It's pretty sad at the same time because these people (like your brother) are working their lives away and thus losing a big portion of the time they can spend with their children and loved ones

You could send him the revenue from this post as ROI

Juliet is very cute.... Glad to see that your brother is joining steemit ... Best of luck to him..

The best gift you can give to someone is by inviting him to join the community and introduce him to the crypto market 😎 👍.

good read.. you have a beautiful family and taking your time to direct your brother is special, he will be so happy you did. The future is great for those getting into crypto now.

you could visit me too like a sister from another mother. smile

I think that Steem will eventually sell itself when folks find out they are just wasting their time with some of the other social media platforms, and the investment opportunity will be the gravy that will draw in the rest that don't do any social media stuff.

@exyle - Sir you spent your quality time to get your Brother to this wonderful blockchain... What was his name Sir... Welcome exyle's brother....

+W+

Very lucky brother to have someone as knowledable as you @exyle. I hope the visit was great!

Here is where the “bubble” is, not with Steem but with Bitcoin. There’s just nothing to justify Bitcoin being valued as highly as it is, it’s a clear bubble, one that is raising in valuation based on value given to it by others, not actual value being derived by the company itself. As long as people keep investing, it stays in the news, and while the majority of people still don’t really understand what it is and want a piece of it because it appears to continue to increase in value, the price will continue to raise. Bitcoin dips slightly at the end of each quarter FYI for anyone that was freaking out about the recent dip it experienced.

My main point is, the value of Bitcoin is derived from the people investing in it, once the value stops going up and people start selling, everyone is going to panic and start selling off which will sink the value, it’s only a matter of time.

Unlike the housing market, there is an actual product of value here, i.e. it’s a not a bunch of junk (uncollectable) debt that has $0 value, so when the bubble bursts it most likely won’t become valueless, however there is a severe market correction coming and shorting Bitcoin is for sure the correct long term smart money play in my opinion.

Big fan of Steem though, keep up the good work.

im thinking about @resteem

It has been very nice :)

Always great to spend quality time with your family, good one my buddy @exyle and keep up the good work.
In my latest post (pls see it) I indicated an abuse going on here and I want you to see it and take action. I wish you more success.

upvoted and it reminds me of my brother

Good luck For him on steemit :D i wish he became like his brother <3

Rather than delegating to a paid booster service, I’d advocate passive investors delegate directly to a chosen community or project that pays dividends. The two large ones I know of currently are Utopian and dMania. I’m sure more exist or will emerge in time.

really good job @exyle

Joyous! Seems like he trusts your judgment though. Glad you had time together.
It's really hard watching people you love miss out!
I made an account for my daughter @miyuki but she doesn't write. I wonder if I should also delegate her votes until she is ready to pitch in?

My other kids are just plain skeptical as yet. They think all my crypto dealings will be bubbly. But meanwhile, I'm investing so they have money for educations or whatever else they might need/want to do when it comes to it and they need a bit of a financial leg up. So, they won't miss out entirely. :-)
I LOVE that you have done this for your niece. My aunt and uncle took to donating our presents to Oxfam and I can remember being childishly disgruntled! A sneeky bit of steem or bitcoin is another matter! ;-)

wow this is awesome..it is very cool way to spend the holidays..it is happy to know that you care for your people :)

Good post

Very good, i am like post you

You should give me some tips how to get the rest of my close friends into crypto.
You have your own ways of persuasion.
Cause they still can't understand how some internet random token can be valuable... sigh

its great to invite all friends, family to steemit! The more the merrier it is ! I hope your bro will enjoy steemit .

I was also convincing a friend of mine few days ago, talking to him for hours on this matter and at the end of the day, he was happy that I introduced him to steemit. Steem is currency of the future.

very nice square

Just a matter of time he will come to understand the big favour you've done for him

Good job you've done!!, always better when it's done for family

I feel really great seeing new people coming to the blockchain. you did a great job explaining about steemit to your brother :) I think minnowbooster would be a great for your brother

Great post there, keep up good work !
