Who needs words when we have emoji's!

Is it possible to communicate without using words? I don't mean in sign language, I mean not using the written word. Well, the answer these days is yes. Below is a conversation using only emoji's and a couple of symbols. I have paraphrased the exchange underneath the image but if you take a look at the emoji images the meaning of the conversation is pretty clear I think.

Him: How about you and I grab a pizza sometime?
Her: Sure, sounds great!
Him: Maybe afterwards we can hit the club and go dancing?
Her: Yeah, sounds good, and coffee and dessert after?
Him: Perfect, and maybe later..We can make out!
Her: What? Ha, just kidding, sounds perfect.
Him: Will you marry me?
Her: Seriously, you just blew my mind...

I wonder how long it will be before people stop using the written word altogether and communicate only through emoji's. Since about 1999 these little things have been a part of our lives and are used to greater or lesser degrees by most of us I think. The word emoji comes from Japan where they were initially created: The 'e' means picture, and 'moji' means character. Picture character = emoji. (Or so I'm lead to believe.)

I'm not sure how the guy and girl who had the exchange above actually went with their date or if she indeed succumbed to his emoji-charms and said yes to the marriage proposal but what I do know is that in the modern tech-world we live in emoji-communication is a legit way of conversing. Like it or not.

Good one!

Sometimes people get overly attached to their words.

Cute wee post with an interesting message.

:)

Words can never be bested but a well chosen emoji adds a little pace and humour I reckon.

That's a bit funny but for me i use emoji in between sentences and that not always.
It will only take a person that has really long been chatting with you or has been close to you to some extent that will understand those signs.

I do beliebe that in a face to face context, the greater part of a conversation is taken non verbally. There is just so much information within our gestures, intonation, body positioning and so on. But as for virtual, I can't say i didn't have some degree of this kind of conversations but those were out of pure fun. I don't think people will basically reduce conversations at just emojis, that would take away the essence of the messages we transmit, or at least that's what i hope, it would be sad!
Great post anyway! <3

Hahahha you are right.now in tech world emoji are used.and i didn't knew before that emoji originates from japan.and what does emoji means.
According to me if one can't use words to express his/her feelings.emoji are the best way to communicate.
Thanks for sharing.we don't notice these small things but these are an important part of our lives☺

Great way to communicate 😂

Yeah, it’s a brave new world out there...In which words are becoming redundant.
