KIDS these days are totally CRAY CRAY!!

in life •  7 years ago

I know that every generation has its fads and trends, and to a certain degree, the adults of the era will never truly understand or relate to the crazes, because, well... they are old! Except of course for the fads, trends and crazes of the 90's teens - those will forever remain legendary - and that's because, we were the most EPIC GENERATION EVER!!!! hahha!!!

Although, I am certain that most youngsters today would contest that statement lol!

I really got thinking about this yesterday when the matter of "dabbing" came up.

Ever heard of "dabbing"?
Well if you are parent to a child anything older than 6
then I am guessing you have.

KIDS these days are totally CRAY CRAY!!

......

As for the rest of you that have apparently
been living under a 1990's rock,
let's educate you shall we...

Ok, so now that you know what I am talking about here...
I can continue with what I was saying...

Yesterday, I was laughed at hysterically by my eight year old son, because I tried to “DAB”… and according to other witnesses in the house, the end result of my attempt resembled something more along the lines of an incorrectly executed heil hitler…. Hahahahaha!!!

Once Jude managed to contain his laughter, he looked at me like I was from another planet and also sent a strong message that I was NEVER to do anything like that in public with him… hehehe! As it is these days, I can barely squeeze a public kiss out of him, so I shudder to think what the reaction would be if I did a public “dab” display… hehe! I mean there is nothing worse than when “mom” tries to be “cool”, right….?!

Listen, I come from the generation of “RAD”, “KIFF” and “FULLY”… I know not of these new age trends lol! And I understand them even less! I entertain them for the sake of humour and well, for annoying my child haha! The abbreviated language is one thing and is honestly laughable, I mean when the hell did feelings become “feels”?! lol – and this is one of the abbreviations that I actually think is quite cute and not entirely cray cray… (see what I did there) hehe ;)

But if there is something that I find amusing yet simultaneously disturbing… is the music they are all into these days lol!

Now, don't get me wrong... thankfully, Jude for the most part actually has exceptionally good taste in music... because he gets brainwashed with MY selections day in and day out hahahaha!!!!! - so he really does have a very eclectic range of preferences (not like he had a choice lol) - but if the "buddies" are around, I can forget about it!!!

This song came to the forefront over our December holidays and Jude would get SO annoyed with me because I made up my own version of the lyrics after hearing the ridiculousness of the song... so every time he walked past me or was in the near vicinity, I would start singing (if you can call it singing)...

I just wanna roley roley roley in my underpants!"

Hahahha!!! I am an evil mother, I know....
but thankfully he eventually saw the humour in moms absolutely
EPIC version of the lyrics... hehe

But seriously... WTF is this??!! lol Is that music?!

And this?

What the BLOODY HELL is this?!

hahahahaha.....
*(although I will confess, the backing track is rather catchy... in a bad virus kind of way lol)

This "song", is almost as bad as someone's "music creation"
that I listened to on dsound yesterday....
It BROKE MY EARS! haha!

As a mother, it is pretty much impossible not to be exposed to all the latest trends with kids - and whilst I may find them amusing to say the least, I do try to "get onto the same level" as my little boy and at least attempt to embrace the things that he finds so "super cool" - and if not that, I can at least embarras him as any good parent does... hehehehe!

But in seriousness, I do think that parents these days are a lot more "fun" in that respect and are able to more widely appreciate and embrace some of the "fads"... although, having said that... I am not entirely sure if this is a good thing or not hahaha!!!

Life sure is cray cray!

Should we dab to that? Yes... lets!

Until next time...

Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx

I actually think is quite cute and not entirely cray cray… (see what I did there) hehe ;) . 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.

LOL Banana boy :)

🍌🍌🍌🍌.

Lol 😂 yeah 90’s kids are the coolest..yep..that’s because I am one of them as well..anyway I agree on the music..I feel as I am getting really old..I seriously don’t get none of it..you are lucky being a mom you get to “ keep up” with it all DAB’s and stuff hehe really enjoyed reading..

hahaha @lidac, sometimes I am not sure if the "keeping up" is a good thing or not. hehehehe Glad you enjoyed the article...

Hahahahaha @jaynie...i can relate with the feeling of not knowing the trend of the time. 'Dab' trended in Nigeria last year or so and it was like if you cant Dab you aint living, lol. I couldnt and still cant Dab but i admire those who can....just like every trend-it came and has gone, now we are battling with shaku shaku(i wonder how they coin these names😂😂😂).

hahahaha!!! Do I want to know what the "shaku shaku" is? LOL

You will very soon @jaynie lol

Excellent your story i always read your blog..upvote and resteemit done .

Many thanks for the support. :)

My bf sister came home crying like a small child the other day. Everyone thought something serious happened. Once she calmed down. They asked her what happened. She told them someone spilled juice on her phone and that it didnt work. Now she cant text her friends in wattsapp😂. TRAGEDY!
Shes 17 btw.
#millenialproblems. Hahah

hahaha I think I might react that way too..... lol!!!! I am a total tech junkie and my phone is glued to my hand (guilty as charged) hahaha :)

Oh dear God...you mean this whole thing is international in scope?! I blame our silly American kids...and yet another in the long list of negatives that social media brings. (I think the 'music' fits in that too, because now there's that much more exposure).

That is VERY true actually!

Hahahahahaha i was actually having a moody night but this cracked me up. Hahahaha. Totally love this post.

Glad it brought a smile to your face :)

It sure did. Thanks @jaynie. The thing went Skrrrrrrr papapa 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 mans not hot! How do you keep up?

90's kids rock. Lol...

Well, there is a lot to catch up with in this generation. Things are moving so fast and if you don't take note you might get lost.

Every generation has a unique way of expressing itself.

@jaynie you are a great mom, the dabbing took over every where especially Nigeria here, and the kids loves it, as a parent you have nothing to do than to let them have their fun because it's their time and generation for that. Thank you jaynie for the visitation, I saw what you did to my post even after stepping on your toes and I would forever be grateful, thank you.

hahaha no worries @tyrex ;)

This pic is so amazing and description content is real .I appreciate whole story.Awesome one

I learned something a few years ago when I tried to live without a phone. “Old fashioned” and “unhip” is more about following trends then it is about age and mindset. I was 25 and people thought it was the strangest thing that I didn’t know how to get a smartphone to docehwt I wanted it to. I had no idea who lady Gaga was, 5 years into her career. I certainly wasn’t close minded and I know some new stuff that are kind of “cool”, particularly underground music cause that’s what I am into. But you don’t need to feel old and uncool for not caring about the trends. They’re all silly and they’ve always been silly and they will always be silly
