Noah’s ark could well be a true story where the facts have been elaborated over time. I don’t think any journalist was around to document the details in the way they were for the life of Christ.
However in many countries it is sacrilege to challenge religious beliefs, so much better accept the beliefs as facts unless you are very sure who your audience is and know how they will act.
Imagine in the US/UK/Nigeria that they put some Catholic priest on TV who talks about the immaculate conception. What do you think would happen if the TV presenter replied “You’re talking bollocks”?

However, I don't think it's a disease. They are sexual preferences. The LGBT community (I think it has more initials) has been the victim of attacks, persecutions, and ridicule.
Once a master was asked why there was so much increase in homosexuality on the side of the male sex, and he had explained that it had originated from the effect of birth control pills in its early years.
Then people will say that homosexuality is a method used by governments to control population growth...
I wonder, if there was a vaccine that would not cause any harm to the human body, to eradicate homosexuality, would homosexuals take it?
