What are the Best Ways to Develop Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

Oren was a sales superstar in the investment industry, commanding a regional sales team. While he performed a good job as a salesperson, he also had a lot of responsibilities as a team leader. His staff was continually falling short of their sales expectations, which was causing them stress.

Oren's Emotional Intelligence diagnosis: a critical flaw in managing conflicts and disagreements is his avoidance of unpleasant arguments and heated dialogues. Regardless of the avoidance, there was a blind hole for this serious issue. That is, he lacked awareness, which meant he couldn't see how avoiding conflict was holding him back, and he was startled when he failed as a result of this blindness.

He read about Emotional Intelligence and attended an Emotional Intelligence conference, both of which aid in intellectual awareness and dispute resolution. However, he was unable to apply this knowledge to how he collaborated with his team, and the same issues persisted.

According to Oren's company, she began working with a coach. Oren and her coach worked together over six months to help her grow. They began with a 360-degree evaluation. This demonstrated Oren's lack of self-awareness and inability to manage conflict.

Coach insisted that Oren keep a diary to record key events, particularly when she had to deal with conflicts. His and his coach's roles demonstrated how to intervene in conflict resolution in mutually beneficial ways. Her coach observed her actions "in real time" and provided additional feedback as a result.

Oren gradually grew less jittery and reserved in the face of disagreement, and he improved his ability to assist his team in making win-win decisions. And he became more aware of himself so that he could keep track of his acts and record them in his diary.

When Oren completed another 360-degree assessment, he discovered that the input he received from the people he worked with throughout the day and night improved both his self-awareness and conflict management abilities, as well as morale, motivation, and sales.

Today, there are numerous Emotional Intelligence programmes; this field has become a mini-industry. The big question is, “What is the best strategy to improve EQ?”

I'm not keen on providing information-only programmes as a means of developing these skills. These programmes, as well as my presentations, might inspire you and improve your thinking. This could only be the beginning.

We all have our own goals, motives, and motivations; we all have our own interests and activities that we enjoy. The greatest method to maximise EQ enhancement is to use and repurpose this stimulating energy.

Working with a coach, however, will have the most influence. There are various reasons why coaching can help you enhance your EQ skills over time:

You can have the best growth strategy in the world that you fully comprehend, but if our beliefs or habits overwhelm our strategies and plans, we will remain trapped. A coach can show you how to "put an end" to bad habits.

On high-stress days, when you revert to your old acting style — the one you're attempting to improve — a coach can ensure you don't give up. Instead, you can use a failure to improve your mental preparation for the next time you do the right thing.

From our good goals to specific practical applications that meet our aims and wants, a coach can help us gain the competences we need to be more successful.
