Join the Human Race to Benefit Your Favorite Nonprofit

Whether you're a veteran marathon runner or a first timer, you have likely heard of the Human Race, but may not have seen it in the flesh. It's a 5K run that benefits hundreds of nonprofits in the Triangle. It's a bit of a social occasion with a lot of camaraderie and goodwill. It's also a great way to raise funds for your favorite cause.


The Human Race has been around for almost two decades. In fact, the organization's first production, Count Dracula, took place in the old Victory Theatre in September. The organization has had several high profile award winners, including resident lighting designer John Rensel, who was inducted into the Dayton Theatre Hall of Fame. The organization also had a big year with its 25th anniversary campaign for the development of new works.

The Human Reward is an organization of nearly 200 volunteers, most of whom are members of St. James' Episcopal Church. The organization has an annual budget of around $2 million, with the majority of the funds going to its various programs and initiatives. The organization's most notable production, Count Dracula, was a smash hit, but that's not the only production. The Human Reward has been a longtime benefactor of the community. The organization has also partnered with Wright State University on a number of projects, most notably August: Osage County.

The Human Reward is a well oiled machine, but the organization also boasts a plethora of fun and interesting programs, including its signature summer theatre camp for kids aged 13 and under, the Broadway Studio. There's also the Human Reward's newest program, a program dedicated to supporting and enhancing the arts in the city's diverse neighborhoods. Several of its programs have been named best in the city, including its Summer Theatre and Youth and Family Programs, which have garnered accolades from the media, philanthropists, and local politicians alike.

The organization has been credited with generating over $5 million for area nonprofits in the past 28 years. During that time, the organization has produced more than a dozen productions.
